windowsME wont boot anymore. all it does is beep. blank screen. nothing else.

this is what happened:

I was playing Madness Interactive and decided to use my sound system instead of my headphones (i usually use my headphones for everything). My sound system is pretty old, but its pretty loud. So I go into experiment mode and tweak my equalizer so that the gunshots sound real (hehehe...). After about 15 mins playing with my stereo bouncing my hardware around in the case, i quit the game and click the start menu. i am greeted by the blue screen of death. I reboot, and all i get is a blank screen.

i had an old w98 boot disk lying around, i popped it in and it worked. so...

A:\>C:

C:\>cd WINDOWS

C:\WINDOWS\>dir

It gets to the Ss and then:

Error reading drive C.
Abort, Retry, Fail?

The only thing i can think of that did this is my subwoofer, which sits next to my comp(im going to change that though). So far, i think all thats damaged is the windows directory. i can still run DOS games.

Im going to try reinstalling winblows.

Its fixed now. Somehow my Windows folder was corrupted. :eek: everything else is fine.

Win2K = okay. a bit slow.
WinXP = THEDEVIL!!!

I have used every windows operating system except CE and NT, and my favorite would have to be ME.

I <3 ME.

er, I <3 WindowsME.

It's amazing anybody would consider Windows Major Error their favorite Windows OS. I swtiched to Win2k from Win98SE and will never look back. But unfortunately, I don't look forward to any of Windows other OS's.

actually once you get used to the evil XP it actually seems good, it have win98 compaabilty and shit, and most shit i rnu on it from my older computers work fine

*unlesss you mean FF7*which didn't work on ym win98's newer CD-Drive*, then you need a program that slows down your CD-Rom discspeed due to it moving too fast *weird shit* duno what the name is, but i saw it on TechtV :D*

I'm not really excited about LongHorn. Its supposed to have some sort of 3D engine behind the interface... yeah, that will be real good on the system resources...

Long Horn will be great,Apart from loosing the whole taskbar set up.Its supposed to end up like a distorted Unix platform.
EVIL!!!
PURE EVIL!!!

People like me who like warez *well, being a cheap bastard i am* cannot due to it's warez and illegal junk reporting shit! if i do get a longhorn machine, i will have a XP and a 98se+ machines on the side, and the longhorn machine will not know ther is another computer other than dual layer DVDs or even in the future, the holographic memory disks *currently, $45 for 200gig of data, and $3k-$5k for the drive*

it aint seein the internet bastard machine!!

has it actually been released?
No it hasn't. The patches are made by the same people who distribute it thru IRC.

And I've tried it's pre-beta. It crashes more than....more than......well, Windows ME i guess :p

Long Horn is set to be out around 2006, There for we can understand it is in Beta form,Even alpha? The OS should be more customizable and esier for computer illiterate users. I find XP is too simple,So simple it makes it harder to do something than it really is, If i were to say my favourite it would be Micro$oft Windose 2000,I still havent tryed the master Linux platforms,But soon Will be using the dual boot method.But back To longhorn:-

in Japan they use ¥ not £

Yes i know that, Whats the point in saying in yen wheres hardly anyone knows what the currency is like compared to £ or $.

But the Long Horn OS should be less error proned ,Yet i think it will become more vulnerable to major Trojans like Sub Seven,Back orifice or any other major virii. It would be nice to see some of the progress maybe on a Video created by micro$oft.
