Fallout 1 & 2

I didnt realise there were people writing a fallout engine?

fallout 1 comes as a dos exec as well as windows so you might be able to get it going under dosbox.. but it ran 640x480 iirc... so scaling would make it look fugly on gp2x

lol... actually you might also try to run halo using cedega for arm, but then it will need to be scaled and that might look fugly, too...

Sorry... couldn`t resist.
The chances that it will run anywhere near playable are basically 0 with DOSBOX. It`s way too complicated to just emulate a game like this. Dosbox will run things like commander keen 1 and things like that. Wait for the interpreter is all you can do.

Fallout 1 only required a P90 and 32MB of RAM, I could see a port of a similar engine running OK on ARM 200MHz

No way on Dos Box. Protected mode games are runnig extremly slow, even on modern PC systems.
Is the source code available? Without it a port is near impossible...

Stephan

Icurafu is refering to the FIFE engine. The engine itself is open source.

I think anything with more stringent requirements than the DOS versions of Syndicate or older, might run like molasses, and even worse, honestly. Porting might be tough, but it's the only option to get speed if you can find the source.

I found some source code for "FREESYN" on Sourceforge which is a Syndicate port, but I couldn't find any info on it, other than you need the original game data.

I'm hoping to find Boppin' for the PC somewhere, cause I've not found it anywhere for the Amiga for sale/download.

you want to find boppin? To buy it? Or the source? or the game itself?

Actually, Apogee had the rights to Boppin' until a while ago, when the author apparently took it back from them and made it freeware. So now, if you wish to download Boppin', feel free to do so on the Author's OWN Boppin' webpage.

http://jenniverse.com/boppin%20main.html

I found this out last night after searching the web for Boppin' without the +Amiga in the search criteria.
This makes me very happy. Now back to your regularly scheduled topic.
I think much of the pre-386 games will run under Dosbox. SimCity and such.

You probably didn't find anything because the project name is FreeSynd. ;)

Here's the project homepage if you are interested: http://freesynd.sourceforge.net/

Oh, that would explain it. *Nod* At least we know there's source code out there then. Hope they come out with at least a Windows version, if not a linux version. However if they released the source so we could somehow port it to the 2X, that would be right kickass.

Thanks for the info
