F200 Nand Could It Be Used As Ram?

NAND is flash memory, Vista uses a magnetic harddrive. Harddrives are hardier than flash memory, as flash has a limited number of writes before it dies. :3

Vista's ReadyBoost does not use flash storage as additional RAM. That is a misconception. It is more of a cache than RAM. It basically just creates a cache containing files that are frequently accessed. The performance gain is because flash storage has a better random access performance than a hard disk, but is still slower than RAM. It is more of a band-aid solution than anything else. The better thing to do is just add more RAM, or even better than that, don't use Vista at all if your system can't handle it. :p

Anyway, back to the topic, why would you want to do that in the GP2X? I doubt we can see any performance gain at all. It is more likely the opposite would happen. Besides that, both the SD card & NAND are flash storage.

I was just wondering since atm the nand is not accessable to the masses... could we put it to some other use? :D Another question gpe or qtopia on f200 anybody seen it? thought Id ask.

I believe the built-in games are stored in the NAND.

I'm fine whether or not I can access the NAND. I'll just stick with SD cards, which have way more capacity and are more convenient. :p

Sorry, haven't tried those programs you mentioned.

Ever considered the idea that the slowness is partly down to you using it incorrectly, rather than it being a case of lazy developers.
