F##k Nintendo

It's really not fair that a simple vendor should have to pay out like that. I doubt those guys will ever recover financially. Something similar happened to a college student in Cleveland when I was living there, it's some serious bullshit. They are just using scare tactics; they figure if they make enough of an example out of a few small time sites that the rest will stop selling them out of fear. I'm still pissed off at sony for taking down lik-sang, that was some serious bull, there is no importer that has even come close to equaling them in size & variety of items.

I'm pretty sure the method slot-1 flashcarts use to boot is illegal under already-established laws. Most people aren't familiar with them. Plus it's Australia, tons of shit is going down there recently.

Sony taking down Lik-Sang was serious bullshit though.

It comes as no surprise that it's piracy piracy piracy, with no mention of development, convenience(why take all games separately when you can put them in one card?) or homebrew purposes.

The convenience of using a single cart with all your games on it is amazing. Less crap to get lost. And less crap for a 3yro to get their greasy paws all over. Of course having your 3yro lose a cart is just bonus for the traditional market guys since you'd be motivated to buy another copy.

So suing all these cart makers into oblivion, how is there any way to do homebrew? I guess the answer is to buy into a non locked down platform.

Of course, that is why I love devices like GP2X, Wiz and Pandora. We are allowed to freely tinker.
Although to the above... sod it, I have my M3 and I will tinker with my NDS HW that I bought.

AAhhhh the very reason the Pandora exists. Because of the shitty and disgraceful behaviour of Sony and Nintendo towards what their customers are allowed to do with something they own.

Bend over now...

Aren't slot-2 solutions like the Supercard and M3 SD/CF legal? Slot-1s aren't against the law just because they allow you to pirate things, it's because they bypass Nintendo's encyrption allowing it to boot without extra hardware, or they include Nintendo code. The law is the law, I wouldn't expect a judge to decide what something involving electronics and piracy means, and I highly doubt the law will be reformed. You just have to stay a step ahead or go for open systems.

AFAIK, only those carts compatible with the DSi are affected by the ruling. Apparently they contain bits of code off original DS games to circumvent the DSi's copy protection.

The cards that run on the DSi contain more than 1MB of a Licensed Video Game. So, its piracy. No way around that :(

What you wanted them to be like France?

You'll love this.
Sony has added a new authentication measure to SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 for the PSP that will require gamers to first register their game on PSN before they play online. Once that's done, you won't be able to use the UMD on another PSN account, and anyone buying a used copy of the game will have to shell out $20 for an additional voucher to play online.

As if it wasn't enough screwing PSP Go owners out of true ownership of their games, now they can screw PSP 1/2/3000 owners the same way.

Game ownership these days amounts to little more than rental. Welcome to the woorld of tomorrow!

Lesson here, kids, is - buy your flash cards now, before they become illegal in your country. And buy a few extra to sell to the Aussies. :)
