EraPalm - Very interesting console (but no nubs)

Can you post a picture in this thread via Imageshack? Engadget's blocked at my school.

Looking at this odd bird of a device on display at the China Consumer Electronics Fair inspires tired cliches about mating gadgets. But really, it took a wild night between a Windows 7 tablet and a portable gaming console (with a possible cameo by a UMPC) to spawn the EraThink EraPalm. This handheld runs Windows 7 and has a 5-inch (800 x 480) capacative touchscreen that slides out to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard -- all of which is reminiscent of the extinct OQO Model 02, except for the gaming controls flanking the display. Newpad spent some with the little guy, and reports some netbook-like specs including an unspecified Atom Z processor, 3G connectivity, and Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, and USB ports. (Then again, it does one better with GPS and support for 1080p video.) Want a closer gawk? Click the source link for a couple more hands-on shots.

How come, of all the websites that covered this EraPalm console (by a company called EraThink) only one particular site actually mentions 'joysticks'?

By the way, in regards to the below quote by Cloned In China all those feature are made possible by a dongle accessory, which is obviously external to the actual console itself.

But from the specs it’s pretty much a mini netbook, equipped with an untold Intel Atom Z processor and 5-inches 800*480 capacitive touchscreen, with support to 1080p videos. It even gets a Ethernet port to allow wire Internet connect. It also gets HDMI, VGA, GPS, USB ports, and support 3G connectivity and GPS. No words about the price and time of availability.

Ooh, it's quite nice. Pity about running Windows :(

I wonder more about the specs... The x86 must chew up the battery.

Someone will hack the sh*t out of it, because Windows emulators are ok and all, but would rather someone install Linux on it.

And yeah, battery life better be decent...more decent than 3DS, lol.

X86 makes it a bit of a lemon to me. Still, nice to see other people realising that, shock horror, people like playing games.

You'd think more people would, really. I mean, most technologies that get adopted on a wide scale do tend to have have games as a driver first, don't they? It's like that's been forgotten.
