Efficient Agenda and Organizer for the Pandora ?

Thanks for links.

The PSION 5 MX were really definitely great machines. Some 10-20 y. ago, Psion were really the top technology to have in pocket.

It was about in 1995-2000 that they were released?

I remember I was so much impressed first time I saw those machines at an Informatic exposition. Demo machines from HP for marketing

I'd like to bring the great PIM suite "KDEPIM/PI" into the game again. Appointment book, todo management, contacts, a password manager and even some simple Outlook sync was included!

This was a great solution running on Sharp Zaurus, Linux and Windows.

I was not successful to compile it for the Pandora yet.

Does anyone want to try? I am not an expert, it's QT-based, so needs qmake etc. CodeBlocks PND should come with the necessary tools, but I don't know how to do it correctly.

Here are the sources:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/kdepimpi/files/KDE_Pim/2.2.10/

And here are some screenshots and photos of KDEPI/PI running on the Zaurus SL-C3200:

I had a go at this some weeks back. It was a wild stab at a build that failed - but not too miserably. From what I remember, I came to the conclusion that it was the version of QT available - its just 'too modern'. I seem to remember that KDE/PIM failed to compile completely due to a specific function call that upon investigation was deprecated a couple of QT releases before whatever version is in the Codeblocks pnd.  I think If we had an older version of QT it would build absolutely fine. Although the standalone version scripts are littered with references to the Zaurus, it was straight forward enough to get the compile started on the OP. Unfortunately, I have since purged the project from my SD card, but I absolutely believe it is doable.......

Not quite. In my opinion the HP 200LX was the most advanced. However Psion 5MX and HP 200LX were quite similar in their capabilities, however, had very different advantages due to their totally different OSes: Psion with its EPOC, the HP with MS-DOS 5.0.

Looks interesting.
I like those text-mode utilities: Operable usually only with the keyboard, efficient and easy to read even on a small screen.

The HPs were released in 1992 (95LX), 1993 (100LX) and finally 1994 came the 200LX. I got one in 1997 and kept it in daily usage for a lot of my office needs (email, text processing with LaTeX, Mindmapping, Outlining and all sorts of PIM) until about 2006. Almost 10 years. Imagine - what other device can serve you for so long?

Yes, this was the 200LX. :)

(EDIT: Mistake. THIS was the 1000CX, which was basically a identical to the 200LX, but lacking most ROM software, so this is kind of a plain MS-DOS computer, mostly used for special purposes where the users had to have one specific DOS program available in their pocket).

I still have about 10 of them here at home in my collection, and lots of spare parts, as I service them for the few remaining power users.

Mindmapping: MM/LX ("MindMap/LX"). This was a software project I myself also worked on, especially enhancing it with powerful HTML export, so that MM/LX could even be used to create entire websites.

Outlining: The PE text editor, that had Outlining features. Also a software project I took over from the original author later and added e.g. basic Unicode support:
http://www.dasoft.com/PE/latest.htm (Version 3.0 was released by me)

All sorts of PIM:
At first I have used the built-in ROM PIM programs, i.e. the appointment book, the contacts database, the general database program, the note taker etc.
Later, I moved to using PE for that, too, with its outline and database features, and in addition there was "PIM.EXE", a GUI program that visualized the stuff entered into PE in a common calendar- and database-like manner.
http://www.dasoft.com/PIMLX/pimlx.htm
and here is my tutorial for using PIM/PE (a.k.a. PIM/LX):
http://www.hermocom.com/de/knowledgebase/hplx/pimcourse

For Email I used Post/LX, which is the email client of the WWW/LX suite of programs. ALso Post/LX was one of the programs I continued development after the original author stopped further development. To Post/LX I added e.g. display of HTML email content.

You can see some screenshots here:

By the way:

PE, PIM/PE and MM/LX can also be used on the Pandora, using DOSBox and a Palmtop graphics emulator, such as Palrun.

However, usage is not too convenient, because of the difficult key mapping and some graphics flaws of Palrun in conjunction with DOSBox.

I have not tried to run it under QEmu. That might work better.

wow thats cool. Mindmapper looks nice.

Me I am happy with this agenda: http://s23.postimg.org/t2p2w48a3/20130525_183615.png   <-- Format kinda proven that it is working well.

But I might say... Nothing to envy if you have a Minister: http://www.quovadis-diaries.co.uk/acatalog/Minister-Luna-Leather-2014.html  (- yeah paper!)

Minister is a fabulous planner and it may offer sufficient space to write all your meetings.

This works using streaks cli love pnd

https://github.com/insanum/gcalcli

Not sure how useful it is (but lets you access your google calendar info - admittedly in a rather circuitous manner)

I couldn't get it to work with conky, but it would be a nice thing to have google calendar displayed on the pandora desktop

Currently there is no port to use the google calendar, but if you bring me a C code for that it might help.../contribute

Cliword based on nCurses for the Pandora

(besides, also for mac or windows)
