This would make an awesome gp2x port. With redone graphics would be nice, just scaled down would work, and scaled down via the frame processor would be acceptable.

Do you have to have the PC or MAC version of Dune2 to play it?

Only if it uses even one of the original media files, so probably yes.

I foresee myself losing hours of sleep, missing meals and forgetting appointments when this is done.

It's Dune 2 for the Amiga all over again for me.

Yes this does look pretty good. But I have been playing Dune on the megadrive emulator. Works really well....just in case you actually wanted to play it on the move ;)

Those old-fashioned RTSes don't work too well on a handheld anyway. Just you wait, I hear SimpleRTS is going to ROCK on the Gippex! And the graphics are FANTASTIC!

*chuckles*

Seriously, though, I think that Vynx's project that I'm in could end up being the best handheld RTS experience so far.

Well it had better be, or else :P

The units are too small to play the game on 320x240

Wasn't the original Dune2 in 320x240?

Oh, and how can you say they're too SMALL? Smaller units allow for a bigger field of view on 320x240. Especially with the screen as crisp as the GP2X's screen, which displays my 4x4 trooper well enough that you can count his pixels.

Judging from the above screen, I'd say that it wouldn't be difficult to find places to save some space. That there is one of the most wasteful GUIs I've seen in a good long while.

Well, just have to trim down the gui, perhaps add START button Menu options, perhaps when a unit or building is selected, press SELECT to bring up it's options, make use of the shoulder buttons for making group selections, just spiffballing, but it COULD use an almost minimal GUI if the buttons are used right.
