Duke Nukem 3D available for free on Gog.com

Which, from what I see of it, looks a nicer alternative, seems they all do the same thing basically, allow you to run Windows OS, but I like that Fusion allows you to run them like native OSX applications, letting you run Windows programs using Spotlight and Launchpad. Also can use the gestures that OSX offers with the Windows programs.
afaik parallels does that too

Does it, tbh I didn't look too much into Parallels, just read this article hyping VMware Fusion, I'll have a more thorough look at both when the time comes though, must admit I know a few other people who have used Parallels are said it's good and does what you need, so may go with it.

Looks like Fusion is about 20 quid cheaper though, which might swing it

Fusions was cheaper when I looked too, but every review i looked at stated that Parallels did everything faster and smoother. Like I said, this was a few years ago and it might be different now. I know that Windows XP on my Mac loads quicker than on my desktop.

"Anything" would be quicker loading than my existing laptop's Windows ... I can't bear it.

I was just looking through the GOG games, very pleased to come across this one:

It looks a lot like an old game I had on my PSP called 'Mercury', which was great.

I will definitely be getting this Puddle game, looks a fun puzzler.

  • Tyrian 2000 => could work in Qemu, but probably too demanding

wait, we got no port of openTyrian yet??? even my DS and my Wii got one...

edit: http://code.google.com/p/opentyrian/

2nd edit: hum just noticed Tyrian 2000. this opensource version only run the version 2.1 meaning no episode 5 and such improvement. but I can't find OpenTyrian in the repo any way, and it seems to be pure C using SDL and SDL_net only...

I got it compiled fine enough, I just need to see if it works.. if so, I'll package up a PND and push it to the repo... Just need to get home to my Pandora.

yep thoroughly derailed this topic.

Tyrian 2000 plays fine in DOSbox as well. I have the open tyrian and the tyrian 2000 on my pandora and both work fine.

Well I'll still package it if it works, I think many would welcome a native port.

Edit: well looks like it's already ported, should of checked the old repo... http://dl.openhandhe...?0,0,0,0,30,155

I'll still see how this stacks up with my port, a new version taking advantage of Notaz's SDL may be better.

Yes but i dont think the Pandora port of OpenTyrian supports the additional Tryrian 2000 content, do you think this could be rectified?

well opentyrian does not support it, it's not a problem of our port...

now, one would think, adding support for a new episode + a few gimmick wouldn't be crazily hard...

wouldnt it be cool if the HD pack runned on eduke 32 on Pandora? it is good to dream :p
