Ds Lite

Hey there,

Got my DS lite yesterday (black UK version).
I have been looking into Flashing it already but on removing the battery cover, the inside is diffrent to that of all guides on the net

I'm going to look into this a little more and let you know my results.

p.s. thanks for the advice on the m3 (even though i've not got it to work as of yet :( )

GO here and follow the intructions. but the files are on the CD that you get.

P.S. I already flashed my DS lite. It was very easy. All you have to do is connect the 2 pads in the left whole. Or go here for a guide.

I am actually tempted to trade in my DS and get a Lite for £60. Would it be worth it?

Is that GAME stores, or just game stores in general?

game GAME stores lol

i took that deal aswell
you can alos buy tetris or metroid prime or king kong or a few other for 10£ extra
kikass deal, i got tetris ds for 10£ new

I just got mine as well, a lovely piece of hardware :D . I wasn't even aware of the fact that there was a homebrew scene on the DS, has anyone got any good links about the DS scene?

is it easy to get emu's runing on the DS... would you say it is as easy as the GP2x.... im realy considering getting a DS lite... with a supercard and passme2-SD... what you think???

Get a SuperKey instead of a Passme. With the SuperKey, you do not need to flash your firmware or anything, just plug your Supercard in and away you go. Unfortunately, DSpec (the NDS version of ZX Advance) is not yet compatible with the Supercard, but should be soon.

 A Spectrum emulator?! Yipee! I better check out the Passme/SuperKey then... :D

This is sort of off topic for this forum but I'll give it a go!

Check out SCdev.org for tutorials/DS emu community.

If you are considering a Supercard/passme/Superkey. Supercard is currently selling a Supercard mini SD which is the same size as a standard cart (the original sticks out 2 cm beyond the chassis on a standard DS) not so much of a consideration with the old DS's but a definite consideration with the smaller form factor of the DSLite's (closer to 4 cm).

Currently the Supercard supports 2 gb sd cards and with a little custom configurations 4 gb have been reported to work as well. GBA games play almost 100 percent with some slowdown in high action scenes/play due to slow ram chips on the Supercard SD. There are load/wait times while the rom is loaded into the onboard 32mb of ram.

DS Games run incredibly! Instant load times. Huge amount of games on a 2 gig card.

The emulation scene has grown out of the GBA scene. And is now moving beyond it. Current emulators include:

Gameboy Mono-"Goomba"-by Loopy and Flubba

Gameboy Color-"Goomba Color" by Loopy and Flubba

NES-"PocketNES" -Flubba

SNES-"SNESAdvance"-mixed reviews some full speed with patches others with speed and or sound issues

SMS- "SMSAdvance"-by Loopy and Flubba

TG-16- "PCE Advance"-Playable with sound issues-by Loopy

Colecovision-"Cologne"-by Loopy-coming along nicely!

MSX-"MSXAdvance"-by Loopy-currently supports MSX1

Other coders have ZX Spectrum emus (2) at present ,both only support z80 snapshots not .tap

2 weeks ago a beta Sega Genesis emulator surfaced-untested

MP3 and Movie and Pic Viewing through "Moonshell"-a truly remarkable program with a video codec to resize the video to fit the DS screen.

The Supercard natively supports Picture, movie, ebooks

Picture viewing through 3rd party program "GBASlideshow" -basically allows you to create a rom with up to 1000 resized thumbnail imgs per rom/album and play background music in gbm** and view in thumbnail, full, or slideshow.

ebooks-"GBA Make Book" allows you to convert txt format docs to a viewable ebook-great for walkthroughs etc.

Music-Supercard natively plays GBS format only. Mp3 is not supported-wav/mp3 must be converted to GBS by the GBA music program.-file sizes are almost double and sound is tinny/scratchy.

GBA movie player allows you to convert video into GBM(gameboymovie) and GBS (gba sound) and re scales the video to the gba screen-These 2 formats are much larger than the originals.

**note-gba movieplayer is an older version of the software (and cannot be upgraded)and files downloaded from GBAthemovieway.com and others will not play on this version-only files converted by you or another supercard user will work with the proprietary software-I recommend not even bothering with the filmplay software and go with using Moonshell-You wont be disapointed and you will be saved much frustration.

Moonshell for the DS outshines all the above programs for use on DS.

Moonshell currently supports mp3 playback as well as high resolution video/sound and picture viewing -NDS +NDSL only.

Currently coders are working to take advantage of NDS Wifi Capabilities.

This and all other information about DS homebrew/emulation can be found at SCdev.org.

Hope this is helpful!
