turnip why are you so bothered about overclocking to 275?
Because I cant play some of the mega CD games I have with the one I have, but I think I would be able to if my 230mhz second core wasnt holding back my 260mhz one. If I turn off the sound and run them with single core at 260 they become playable.

You're doing something wrong then ... all my sega cd games run fine at 240Mhz, with sound.

So you can play thunder on yours with one core at 240mhz with sound?

I think not.

Turnip, the ultimate units work slightly different than the regular ones most of us peasants have, hence why they were triple-core, not dual. Triple cores work different. I'm still in awe on how they managed to keep the software compatibility between regular and ultimate units so high, that was excellent.

This is weird, I cant find any mention of the triple core version on google. It wont even find the shop posted in this thread.

.. shame too. I heard you could play Mario 64 at full speed & sound on those models :(

Shut up and stop lying to him TelcoLou, at best Mario 64 is 45 fps with FS 2.

That's only because that lazy ass who coded the emulator never used the third core.

So the one in the ultimate pack is really a compleatley different console?

Id be happy with a duel core one if it ran at that speed.

Tho id settle for one of the ones tested to 275.

Surley somewhere must still have some left.

When you did your search were you looking for the GP2X or the GP3X? 2X is for dual and the 3X is for tri-core. The dual core uses the 920 and 940 cpus, in which case the second one can't clock past the first one. In the 3X the first cpu is a 920 single core and the second cpu is a 960u. The 960 is a dual-core 920 and 940 so with the tri-core you essentially get a 920, 920, and 940 which is why the second dual core can clock at 275mhz like the first 920, since the second core is essentially part 920 and uses the higher clock rate to synch with. I hope that makes sense somewhat. Both systems use the same case, but a lot of ppl confuse them often.

Oh, and there is no N64 emulator for either system, just PSX. But PSX is supposed to use the second dual core on the 3X eventually.

Okay guys, this is getting kind of sad.

Buddy, there's no ultimate whatever. There's no triple core. These fellas are pulling your leg. If you'll notice Poke Paradox's choice of bolding, you will see that we find you to be rather gullible.

I think youve got that a bit wrong, the ultimate pack is still the GP2X.

I think that most of the GP2X's avalable now are the ones that didnt meet the grade when they did the testing for the 275mhz units. Presumably the stores can charge a higher price for the 275 units so stopping testing them and just selling them all as value packs would make no sense so the reason that they arnet selling any must be that they dont have any. What a con!

Ill be sending mine back and waiting till they get a new batch in.

That's your best bet I'm afraid. And the ultimates did exist, and I heard a new batch will be coming in September. A lot of people, like Shadowsithe, don't know that because they do not check with distributors on a regular basis.

Yeah well I dont know all that much about computers, so when I go asking geeks for advice and they post a link to a shop selling something under the pretence of helping me out i'll probably beleve them. I suppose everone who dosent spend all there time in there bedroom learning about computers is gullable.

Brilliant community you have here btw.

Alex. is probably right. The Ultimate ones are made in Germany, and clock higher. The ones that are in the 240mhz range are a knock off manufactured in Korea. Usually sold at Lik Sang and other such places. Check your serial number to see which you have.

Clearly anyone who dares dispute the knowledge of the almighty nerds in any way (even when other sites say different as everyone can see) isnt welcome here.

Unprovoked nastiness.

I'm in your corner, kiddo. The clockspeed of GP2Xs is luck of the draw. Some distributors simply tested which overclock to 275 and charged accordingly. This was apparently deemd too costly so they stopped. I sincerely hope that clears things up for you.

Alex: I totally live in a warehouse where they keep GP2Xs. I know the ultimates are all worn like bling.

Now who's gullable? I may not be much of a geek but I know that if stores can charge more for say 20% of the units in each batch simply by running a test on each one (which dosent acually cost anything as far as I know) then thats what they will do. If testing them was costly they'd just up the price of the tested units and if the units didnt sell at that price thats when they'd stop testing.

Well then, you sure showed us! Good luck with your wait ...

Oh, and if you look at my first reply in this thread, you'll see my response was sincere.
