Don't mix up l33t and ebonics influenced IM-speak. They're a little different.

Both are juvenile, but at least people that are speaking l33t are purposefully obfuscating thier text. People that type IM-speak are just ignorant and can't spell.

And Telcou, why are you not a Mod at the moment? You were the only one that had any sense.

It doesn't compile. Maybe I'm stupid, but I was hoping for a hidden message. :(

Thanks for the kind words; I resigned for personal reasons ... Hando made me a guru as a consolation prize

yes people can be this *stupid*, but we spend too much time among ourselves -the über geeks- and not enough time on MySpace or AIM to tell.

Thou shalt go to some myspace chat and see for thyself.
just knowing how to type the ü for the word übergeeks automatically qualifies you (I had to search it up this morning to type the word nüb on another forum, it only took me one link off of Google, skills man skills).

It is fun to play with stuff, hint ALT+0252 on my PC does the ü.

I knew there was something wrong with that post...I meant to say metal styli.

BWha haaaa!!!

I was about to correct you ;)

But seriously, why the hell is this topic still alive? Time for my favorite cut & paste:

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that "all men are created equal"

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived, and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of it, as a final resting place for those who died here, that the nation might live. This we may, in all propriety do. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow, this ground -- The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have hallowed it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here; while it can never forget what they did here.

It is rather for us, the living, we here be dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that, from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here, gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve these dead shall not have died in vain; that the nation, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people by the people for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
You can't filibuster me out of this topic Telcolou :p    :D :p (What?! banned for over-use of smileys? :)).

That's great for people with a numberpad, but I have a laptop. :(

How does one do this with no numberpad?

I knew that much, but I was hoping there was a cool keyboard type way to do it. I really hate taking my hands off the keyboard to do anything.

ALT+Space N or ALT+Space X or ALT+F4, etc...

Please note the following, Ms. Jessi,

The GP2X does not take DS cards, they are pulling your leg.

You will need an SD card, choose whichever size you can afford, and before buying, ask us if that brand and model of card is known to work (some are incompatible, the GP2X is a little picky). You should be able to get one at the place you buy the GP2X.

You may also need a card reader, so that you can easily copy files from your computer to the card. You should be able to get one at the place you buy the GP2X. Remember, you get the games and programs by downloading the from the internet, and copying them from your computer to your SD card.

Sorry about all the spamming, joking, and topic-stealing. The geeks are just a bit uptight around less knowledgable people. They aren't usually like this. If you are who you say you are, and you really want a GP2X, then we well come to respect you more later on.

@michaeljustman: I too have a laptop. See if you have a key "Fn". On my laptop it's got Fn in blue, and on the basis letter keys there are blue numbers. That's like a substitute numberpad :)

i cant believe everyone forgot to tell her about the umd drive built into it!!.well Jessi, you can also buy the same movies that are available for the psp and just press the button on the back of the gp2x and the drive pops out from the bottom of the console. slip the umd (like a very small dvd) into the drive and you are watching your favourite movies that you mom bought you
(i wonder if she knows what gullible means?)
