Yeah, well, I DO know the topic is German - that's because I just wanted to tell you that I'm currently translating Grebn's "Wizard of Firetop Mountain" into German :)

The translation is progressing nicely, if all goes right, it is ready for release as soon as the English version will be released.

The German version is based on the Original German translation by Irene He.. :)

So... "Möge das Glück der Götter Dich auf Deinem Weg ins Abenteuer begleiten!"

Nice!

Never played one of those roleplaying books, but I`m definatly checking out this release. Even better, you translate it into german!

Thanks!

Hm

hört sich doch mal richtig interesant an. Da freu ich mich schon richtig drauf. :D

Danke schön, böser Drache :p

Ach mein Gott, sie haben Kenny getötet! Ihr Schufte!!

...sorry, I couldn't resist...

let me guess
"Oh my god, you killed Kenny. you bastards!"?
I love german, it's like english but tough.
Or rather english is like a whimpy version of german.
Too bad I took spanish.

bah... stupid highschool German... Apparently 4 years wasn't enough. There's something wrong in my signature too then, isn't there, Quiest?

well, Reaper is supossed to be the Grim reaper, which is the death, right? If so, something like "Sensenmann" oder "Tod" would fit better. However, the translation you made (oh my god, you killed kenny! You bastards!) was gramaticaly totaly right and would be the proper translation. However, on TV they say "Schweine" instead of "Schufte", as "Schweine" is mor of an insult than "Schufte".

What do you mean by this?
Do you mean german is tough to learn?
Or do you mean it sounds tough?

I think he means it sounds tough. I've heard a lot of people say that when someone speaks German, he/she sounds constantly angry. I guess it's just because of the way the letters are pronounced in german.

Oh, okay, Horscht... The reason I used Reaper is because as you can probably already tell, I'm not fluent in German. So the only way of translating anything is to ask a German(and I don't really know any) or look up the word in my dictionary... either that, or check one of the many internet translators(which are absolutely horrible). I always go with what my dictionary says unless a German tells me otherwise.

And as far as South Park goes, I've never seen an episode in German, but in my last year of highschool German, we read a bunch of mysteries in German, and I remember at one point, some lady got locked up in a basement. And she yelled "Du Schuft!" at the guy who locked her in there...

Well, I came to this wonderful country in September, not speaking German at all. I have worked as a soloist in a German Stadttheater since then, and have had to do several roles where I spend all evening speaking to the audience!!!!(ie.papageno!)

So, can I just say, that German is a very difficult language to learn!!!! It's been such a challenge, but soooo satisfying to be able to speak even a little in a foreign sprache.

And I love threads like this. The more swear words I have in German, the better!!!

PS. Yes, I do realize that this is a selfwanky post, and not interesting to anyone but me!!!!
:p

PPS. South park in German sounds JUST like South Park in English. As does Simpsons! Where do they find these German voices to impersonate the americans....

If you write "Schnitter" instead of Reaper you are as close to the original as possible...

lubidog, where do you perform? Maybe I could watch you live and in the flesh ;)

Now back to the original topic: Sounds interesting. Though I sure don't need a German translation, I am interested how you actually translate some of it.
Make sme think about redoing "The Puppet Master" (my unreleased VN) and maybe making a "Das schwarze Auge" Solo Adventure..... without the dice rolls of course.... and simplified combat....
Hm... tempting.

No need to be scared, you're too far away from me :D
