A comic book reader would be awesome and amazing as I have a HUGE amount of comics that I would love to read on the move but carrying around some of the collections if a nightmare, programs like http://www.geocities.com/davidayton/CDisplay are very cool and I use that for reading scanslations of mangas as well :D. Any thoughts on it?

ehhhh, it would be hard to read because the resolution of the screen is too low, but.... i supose you could make a scrolling image viewer that has it zoomed in all the way but you can move the image around to place you want to read.

whata sweet idea....I want a comic reader!! I would be in heaven.

Ooh. Can I have one too :D

Sounds like a great use for the GP32, hope one comes along

heh. i wouldn't mind scrolling, reading something that easily would make it worth while

I'm using GPFM to read mangas - and it works. You just have to rezise the images to a width of 320 (try Irfan View)

I've been thinking about making one for a while, to read my 9000+ Garfield strips (yay for ucomics.com :D ) I've got exams at the moment though, so I'm not gonna be working on it soon. Should be pretty easy to do though.

As SatanClaus said GPFM has a very good file viewer.

It supports BMP and JPG and you can either view the image to fit the screen or scroll through the image with the joypad. You can even adjust the scoll speed. With the L and R buttons you can skip to the next/previous picture.

It does allow files over 100KB. Maybe the file you where trying to view hit some other limitation.
I don´t know what the maximum resolution is GPFM can handle, neither if it support progressive JPG.

I guess you just have to try some sizes and formats.

From my *still* soon to be released GPFM FAQ

Code:
3. BMP/JPG viewer
=================

  <START button>
    Save current picture as background for file browser.
    File will be resized to fit window.
    File is saved as gp:\gpmm\gpfm\back.imz

  <SELECT button>
    Cycle through view options
	Normal view -> remove info bar -> fit to screen

  <A button>
    Cycles through scroll increment.
    Determines how many pixels are scrolled when scolling with the joypad.
    Scroll increments are 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256

  <B  button>
    Return to file manager

  <L/R  button>
    Skips to next/previous picture

  <Joypad>
    Scroll through picture when the picture is larger than the screen

Just a slight correction. :)

Start button saves the currently viewed portion of the picture as the desktop background, No resizing is done.

Just my observation.

Thanks, didn't notice this because I always view my images "full" screen.

This sounds like a really good idea, theres plenty of comic sites out on the net, so there would be no shortage of content if one was made :)
