Hi guys,
I tried the new Coleco emu and noticed its playing way too fast, despiet being throttled. Is this usual or something strange thats happening on my system?

Thanks!

Uh... you should turn throttle off, that's what is making it faster. ( Full throttle in a car = going as fast as you can ( if in highest gear ))
That is classic :D  :p

A throttle in an emulator is used to limit the speed at which it runs, not to make it go as fast as possible

Yes, that IS a classic! Easy mistake tho, I guess :)
Turning speed throttle off makes the thing run at crazy speeds, but with it on its, I would estimate, 15-20% too fast.

I'm surprised no one else has noticed this?

Sorry, but when I select throttle ON it is running like a maniac. When I select OFF it slows down. So if I made a mistake Rlyeh made the same one (or my GP is serously ill) but must confess I have only tried burgertime so far - am zipping the others at the moment :).

I have been using emu's for ages but have never seen the usage of the word throttle in one before.

Checked with debugger on
- 074 FPS - 148% with throttle OFF
- 100 FPS - 200% with throttle ON
Playing Burgertime (1982-1984) (Data East)

And the same thing playing H.E.R.O.

I have no problems confessing I'm an idiot (cause I am), but the emu is contributing to this confusion.

No. You're not an idiot. You could be perfectly right. I haven't actually tried this yet (still using GPColem - not 100% compatible, but runs a sensible speed). So I shouldn't really be chipping when I'm so badly informed.

Toodle-pip.

Yah, fCOL32 is a bit too fast in some games.

Which works out fine, because most of those too fast games work perfectly in gpCOLEM. (and the games that are too slow is gpCOLEM work fine in fCOL32)...

Must put a donation in to Ryleh this weekend. Anyone use PayPal for that yet?
