I'm thinking of making a new opensource game console with free SDK. The console directly connects to TV and loads games and apps from flash cards. The planned retail price is $150 (which makes it hard to consider any x86 chipset!) So, what chipset/SoC would you suggest for this console?

Is x86 a requirement? If not, you should check out the "our new machine" thread in the general GP2X talk section.
If yes, I dont´t really see the point of that console. You could just use a PC, or for higher portability, take a mini-ITX board with a Via C7 ~1,5GHz CPU and add a bit of RAM. Programs could be run from Thumbdrives.

EDIT: Found a ITX board with 1,33 Ghz Celeron for 70€ in a German shop. The problem with those mini - ITX boards is that they don´t have decent 3D though.

No, x86 is not a requirement.

Suggestions given in the "Our New Machine" thread are for a "portable" console and I'm looking for something more suitable for a "stationary" console.

ITX boards are expensive. I need a solution that costs less than $40 (bulk).
