Hi all!

I'm interested in making myself a chatboard for the GP32, and wondering, where can I find the GP32 connector and also where do I find a guide to make one?

Thanks!

From my experience, the connectors are easiest to find off eBay. You could buy them online, but you'd either have to buy in bulk at $$$ cost, or there is a site which sells 'em for ~£4.00 each, but the postage was ~£20 iirc.

Look for Samsung T100 data cables, they have the correct connectors (as do a few other Samsung data cables). You can usually pick one up for <£4 including delivery.

I think Mr Spiv's site has a good guide for actually putting it together, esp. seeing as he came up with the idea! :D

The GP32 IO port docs are useful as well, they can be found on the above site too.
Have fun!

Hi All,

I've just ordered myself a chatboard (for £1.50 :)) and a samsung t100 data cable to try and piece together myself. I'm hoping that going by Spiv's diagrams, I can open the plugs then snip both the cables and bind the corresponding wires so that I don't have to solder anything (I'm not too hot at it!)

Anyone know if this is possible? I guess the only problem might be that some contacts aren't wired in one of these two items....

cheers

frolik

ignore me! I've just been looking into it and the chatboard doesn't have a cable... have had a word with a mate who's a dab hand with a soldering iron and it should work out fine..

total cost was £7 from ebay, if anyone else is interested I'll let you know how it goes when I get the bits...

I decided to get round to modding my chatboard yesterday. Went pretty well, except I need to find wire thin enough to connect inside the chatboard without taking up too much space.

I've filled down a serial port connector to go in the back of it (hence the little space inside), looks pretty smart, and means I can unplug the actual cable from the chatboard whenever I want.

Its pretty cramped inside the chatboard though... ;)

im really afraid of opening cables and such stuff, and dont have the experience for it. is there a gp32 shop you offers already modified chatboards to directly plug-in in the gp32 and then it works!?
best thing would be germany :)
i would pay up to 20?€ or even more expensive just gimm3 one!!

As I have mentioned on the board several times, I got my connector as a single piece, not in bulk and it cost 3EUR. I cannot tell how much the postage would be, but for those from Europe: try www.autotop.cz/cross
And for the chatboard modding, I didnt do it myself, but the technician who did it said, it would be better to connect the wires to the legs of the correcponding parts, not to the pins as it is in the scheme and the result is: it works pretty good and the cable is more firm, so it wont go loose whenever I tug at the cable. I recommend everyone to do it this way too, since the pins (or contacts) to which you will solder the wires if following the scheme are not too firm.
