does anyone remember a c64 game called uridium/ possibly iridium and does it work on any of the c64 emulators? I'd love to know as it is for me one of gamings defining moments although maybe looks like shit now as I havent played it for twenty years or so.

It is called 'Uridium' and yes it works a treat on frodo :D

still damn hard though ;)

Cool game.

I preferred Warhawk myself but then I'm biased. I designed most of the levels and graphics :) hehe

PS Tip for any Warhawk fans. From level 4 on when you shoot the ships with the black eye like markings on the wings they release a small satellite like thing. Pick it up don't shoot it. It gives you 30 seconds of 2x speed and autofire. It's essential for later levels. Firebird in their infinite wisdom decided not to mention this in the instructions. Doh!

I think I may have reviewed Warhawk for Commodore User. Can't for the life of me remember what score I gave it.

Good to see that I'm not the only 80s C64 throwback hanging around here :D

What was the reviewers name you used in Commodore User, as I used to buy it?

I used to buy CU and zzap.

Those were the days eh :)

You prolly gave it a passable score Bohica . It got game of the month in a couple of mags can't remember which tho. My memory isn't what it used to be. It's me age.

I am now happily playing uridium on frodo. This game is hard I must have been better at games back then. Will try warhawk soon as its getting so much attention here.

Funny that Uridium should be brought up here, as it was practically the reason I got Frodo for the GP32, but it has been the only one of my old favourites I have been unable to get to run on it!

Gutted.

try some other release of uridium, I'm sure one of them will work. If you get a .prg file with it on it should be fine. think I got it working on frodo but maybe that was uridium 2 (bootleg)

remember this game as being technically brilliant but way too hard to keep me interested

Let me know what you think of Warhawk Fribble.

It works a treat on frodo. Even Rob Hubbards music is flawless

Have just started playin warhawk and it looks good. These c64 games stand the test of time pretty well considering.Again though like uridium it is hard! Or perhaps I was just better back then.

don't suppose any of you lot have been to the back in time live gigs? was at the last one and it was worth it to see rob hubbard play a rendition of sam fox strip poker on the floor after his keyboard stand broke... hehe

Not been to any of them. That's where they play live versions of c64 stuff don't they. Theres a couple of audio CDs out too isn't there? I've got an mp3 of Warhawk by a band called Press Play On Tape. Petshop boy vocals. Not really my cup of tea but intersting nevertheless.
I must admit to still listening to a lot of Amiga mods though. I tend to use deliplayer for mod playing as it sounds better than winamp etc. I wrote loads of Amiga mods too. Never much good but a few were released on very early music compilations by a UK crew called Channel 14. We're talking about 1987 - 88 here. The first tunes I wrote were step time you couldn't even record live back then. Them were the days (pulls on slippers and takes a tug of the pipe ;))

Hi

It's a little off-topic, but seeing as we are discussing C64 music I have a question...

I remember playing a Hewson game called Zynaps, which as well as being a pretty good game had really cool music and SFX. The trouble is that the ROMs I have played it on emulators with, all seem to be a different version with different music, so while the game is intact, the lack of the music I remember is really hampering the nostalgia factor!

On the emulator the credits of the game say Sound & Music by ???? ???? which can't be right can it? I think I originally had it on a compilation tape so perhaps this is another edition of it...?

does anyone else remember this game and know what on Earth I'm on about? Perhaps there's a SID somewhere so you guys can hear what I mean...

LOL Axeman. I see what you mean about that guys page. Mind you there are plenty of sites out there for E L I T E but that's in a league of it's own.

I remember Zynaps Shirohagen but not that well. Can't remember the music at all.Stick "zynaps sid tune" into google. It's comes up with a lot of links but I don't know if any are useful.

Found this too. click here Looks like a very good site.

Shirohagen,

Thanks for reminding me of Zynaps - great game.

Most of the versions out there seem to be some god-awful pre-release demo or something though with lots missing. The Fairlight .prg version at least from this page:

http://www.c64unlimited.net/games/z/zynaps/zynaps.htm

seems to be the complete thing and works nicely in gpfrodo too :)

I loved CU. Couldn't wait to get my grubby mitts on it each month. :)
