There is a very slight chance, given that it is a debit bank card, that since you are attempting to make a major purchase with it ( beyond a stipulated allowable limit,if any..) that your bank has put a hold on your attempts, until you could communicate/explain to them what you are about to do, before they give the OK for said transaction.

But this is only a guess of mine. Hopefully you were able to resolve this issue by the time you have read this.

...Patnik.

^ This happened to me, My Debit card company put a hold on it until they called me. It happens every time I order something out of country, If possible I use Paypal in these cases.

The only difference between debit and credit cards is that debit cards don't allow you to have adverse balance, so you don't become addicted to living in debt. Never experienced any problems with my debit cards.

My bank card has a Visa logo on it, depending on the site it sometimes requires me put it in as a debit card, other times a credit card.

I don't know if ED's site offers the option but it may b e worth a try.

^Most good banks have fraud detection, if they see a large purchase out of country they raise a red flag to make sure the card hasn't been stolen. My debit card is a Visa as well, I don't have trouble with it as far as I'm concerned the Bank is doing their job. I usually get a phone call within a couple hours asking if I want the purchase to go through or not.

Nearly everytime I try to buy something from the Internet by paying directly with bank card I have to go through MasterCard 3-D Secure protection system, something like an added protection. :)

Depends where you live, in the US that's definitely not true, because you're borrowing money you wind up with better protection in most cases from fraudulent purchases than you would with debit. And the fees that go along with debit cards can be even worse than they are with credit.

Unfortunately, it's getting rather hard to find a charge card these days where you have to pay back the balance at the end of the month. But, you can treat a credit card like that, the addiction comes in when you're not using the cards responsibly.

As Trashy says, at least in the US, actual debit cards are getting to be relatively rare, they're mostly Mastercard or Visa labeled and function like a credit card without the loan aspect.

Talk to your bank, please.

Often they limit credit card transfers to outside countries these days.
