So say I hose some of the base OS (NAND) storage, and the GUI won't come up. Is there a way to hold some key combination and get a root console during bootup? Is there a "rescue SD" I would image onto an SD card? I know I can reflash the NAND, but it'd be nice if there was something short of a nuclear bomb.

(No, I haven't scrozzed my lovely Pandora, but I'm about to start fiddling with the sort of stuff which might make that happen.)

Thanks,

Andy

you could always install an OS to SD, and then boot from that, and try to repair your NAND install..

Be faster/easier to just flash though (depending what sort of mischief you're after)

Holding the R button during boot gives you the option to boot to the console.

If you flash the whole OS to SD you can mount the NAND and make repairs, too.

Futher, use the SD install as your base OS, and make regular backups of the whole card to "restore" your OS to an earlier time. :)

I do love its resilience to bricking. This little machine does so many things right.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions! The "R" button in particular I hadn't found mentioned anywhere.

It's good to know that option's available.
