Maybe Lik-Sang is agreeing with Gamepark and just letting it stay that way.
Or maybe they've gotten Gamepark to reconsider. Hmm.

Um, I seem to remember it saying "Usually ships within 24 hours", actually.

I remember because I had placed an order with them two days before they put them as out of stock. Check some of their other items as well... i believe most items do say within 24 hours. If it's now within one week, they are probably new units coming straight from gamepark. I doubt they are any different situation though, if what donjj said earlier was true about the problem arrising from a change in manufacturer for the LCD screen. Then again why would lik sang even start selling them again if they were the same as the ones being returned?

Sorry, yes I stand corrected. Usually shipped within 24 hours is what it used to say...

What I think is going to happen is that Lik-Sang are getting ready to email everyone back next week and tell everyone the official story (i.e. The new units have a different LCD, live with it) and keep shipping the 'defective' units.

Time will tell I guess.

lik sang doesn't need to mail to anyone, they didn't do anything wrong.

the BLU is on temporarily unavailable now btw, seems to be going back and forth all the time...

Just to let you know, they just send out the new units, nothing has been corrected.
I ordered one, here's an eMail I got from Lik-Sang:

We are contacting you because there is a slight problem with your recent order for the GP32 Game System. We did not ship your order yet. Your confirmation is needed if you want to proceed or cancel your order.

It came to our attention that Gamepark has changed the LCD pannel manufacturer from Samsung to another Taiwanese brand. This is causing a "white bar" incompatibility problem when used with some unofficial programs and with some emulators. Official software is not affected. This problem can be fixed by the creators of the software by using new settings/values for the LCD display -- but programmers who make free software will probably need a little while for this.

Unfortunately, this new "behaviour" looked like a fault when first discovered, even to us here at Lik Sang. Gamepark have made an official statement in the meantime and published the new settings for programmers to amend their software, so there is probably not a lot that can be done to 'undo' this hardware change.

We do absolutely understand the impact of this recent change to the GP32 hardware and regret being unable to change Gamepark’s mind. There is not a lot that can be done as all GP32 systems manufactured in the future will be equipped with the new LCD display type.

Please let us know if you would like to proceed or cancel your order. Unfortunately, this change of hardware came in the peak of the Christmas rush, which means that we will need a couple of days to process your order or cancellation. We apologize in advance for any delay.

So, the customers are being made aware of that and have the opportunity to cancel their order.

I had a really bad timing cracking my Samsung LCD on my BLU, I guess :/

Well, I'm still gonna get the new one (I also have an old Non-Lit just in case :)).

I'm gonna try out all the software in the GP32x File Archive and mark them as compatible or not compatible with the new BLUs in the archive.

Let's hope we'll get a fix soon. Looks like a challenge for the coders (and coders LOVE challenges :))

<_<

What about gpEngine and other programs/emus that cannot be updated. Hopefully some fw or laucher app can be made that just patches a program could be created.

And I guess the Non-lit and FLUs still use the Samsung screens?

EDIT: And I hope this doesn't mean every program will from now on have to have two versions.. One for Samsung BLUs and one for Taiwanese BLUs.

hey i was wondering, if people who make programs from now on will need to make two programs one with old settings and one for new settings or if the new settings are backwards compatible??

Well, if anyone flashes his OLD BLU with the NEW firmware, we know for sure.

But as most stuff runs on BOTH GP32s, I'm sure that the staff that runs on the NEW GP32 BLU will run on the old ones as well.

I was wondering that too, but I am too scared to check it out for you guys.

Well ... in this case I'll keep my NEW BLU and will hope someone will come up with a fix asap.

IMHO the only way for Liksang and/or GP is to provide skilled coders with new BLUs to find out and make for example universal bios/patch (if it is even possible).

Unfortunately it is not just a question of white lines in some appz, but also apps rebooting just after start up (e.g. UBook 0.2b. fGEN32), messed 2cm at the right end of display during scroll (!reader, Giana Sister remake) and annoying missing 1st row added at position 240th (most of applications - Castaway, GPEngine, Rogue, and so on). It seems appz that dont have while lines, have 1st line missing.

Lets hope for the best :)
