Blowing Up The Moon, Brb

In about 10 minutes, NASA is going to launch a massive bomb highly scientific projectile at THE EARTH'S MOON in order to determine if any water / cheese / WoW gold is beneath the surface.

Watch it here: http://www.nasa.gov/...satv/index.html

Apologies to those who opened this thread too late to join the fun. Which will be most of you.

Only all the nuclear explosions in the world could blow the moon into the Mockingbird. So that's what they did.

Based on the competency of the U.S. Government, who here would not have been surprised if they missed?

Well, we did stick quite a few people up there and didn't leave any behind ;)

I hate how the news reports are calling it a 'damp squib', like that's failure.
If it was damp, then it's a success coz water's what they were after.

But NASA are to blame leading expectations of a dust plume. On the dark side?
What's gonna light that sucker up? Not a spent rocket booster.

Now for the boring science bit where they get to look at numbers :/
