Dynamite Headdy

300px-Rom_%28Star_Trek%29.jpg

Currently occupying my time on my GP2X:

Genesis/ Megadrive-
Beyond Lagoon/ Story of Thor
Landstalker
Gods
Shining in the Dark
Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday
Crusader of Centy

SNES-
Zelda 3
Tactics Ogre
Lufia 2
Chaos Engine

TG16/PC Engine-
Raiden
Dungeon Explorer
Cadush (sp?)

BTW, the Amiga was (is) a series of computers released by Commodore and featured much better sound and graphics than the PCs of the same time... well worth the time to check out.

About the Amiga - you bet, the graphics/audio were well ahead of the PC in 1990. Perhaps the best point of contrast is "War in Middle Earth" - the PC version's music is speaker tones, while the Amiga has a fetching synthesized audio.

However, between 1989 and 1992, a bunch of classic PC/Amiga games were ported to the Sega Genesis by Electronic Arts. The Genesis ports were far and away superior compared with the other platforms. Here's a partial list of games with *amazing* audio and/or graphics on the Genesis/Megadrive compared to the Amiga or PC versions:

-Starflight 1 (if *only* they'd ported Starflight 2 to the Genesis!)
-King's Bounty (precursor of "Heroes of Might and Magic")
-Faery Tale Adventure
-Populous
-Powermonger (although, control easier w/ the Amiga mouse than the Genesis d-pad)
-Budokan (the Amiga version was just a "dojo simulator", the Genesis version added a decent narrative)
-Might and Magic 2
-Might and Magic 3

PCENGINE:

Bonk!
Bomberman all the available titles (especially 94)
Raiden
R-type 1 & 2
Wonderboy in monsterland (correct title?)

NES:
Mario World 3
Super Mario Bros.
Tetris (eventhough there are so many versions, this is the one I played first when I was like 7)
Zelda 2
+Snowbros.
+Rainbow Islands (soooo cute!)
Contra
Earthbound Zero
+Iceclimber

SNES:
Actraiser
Chronotrigger
Super Mario World
Zelda 3
Terranigma
Illusion of Gaia (gets boring at the end though)
Secret of Mana
Secret of Evermore
Seiken Densetsu 3 (translated ofcourse)
+Airstrike Patrol
Bust a Move
Breath of Fire 1&2
E.V.O.
Earthbound
Final Fantasy 3 & 5 & Mystic Quest
+Ghoul Patrol
GundamWing endless duel
Harvest Moon
Donkey Kong Country 1,2 and 3
+Pocky and Rocky 2
Soul Blazer

GENESIS:
Sonic 1-3
Sonic and Knuckles
Sonic Spinball
Columns 3
Zombies
Ecco2
+Shining Force 1&2
Chuckrock

AMIGA:
+Alien Breed 1&2
Lemmings (duh!)
Cadaver
Lure of the temptress (needs keyboard!!! so no gp2x)
Dune2
Gravity Force
+Gobliiins
+Jurassic Park (this game is amazing... not at all like the snes versions. Think Alien breed but Jurassic Park!!!)
Marble Madness

AMSTRAD:
Lode runner
+Shuffle Puck Cafe
+Sokuban
Arkanoid (whatever title)
boulderdash
deflekto

These are my alltime favourites for these systems... and I could go on for Neogeo and Gameboy but that's just going to take too long and other people will want to post something, too.
I marked the ones that are not so known but that you should definately out with a + !!!

Atari 2600
- BMX Air Master
- Berzerk
- Pitfall! (Pitfall 2 doesn't seem to work with stella...)
- Starmaster
- Front Line
- Winter Games
- Bowling
- Adventure
- and a bunch of others... check out the ataritimes.com review section

One good thing about 2600 emulation is the roms are 2-16 kilobytes. So the 45 atari2600 roms I have on my gp2x take up a total space of ~0.35 MB. :D

I suppose it depends on the age of said person.
I know when I had an Amiga, my younger cuz had a megadrive but had no intrest in my grey/yellow doorstop looking thing!

NO! it is not Alex the kidd! His surname is Kidd. It's Alex kidd :(
I also prefer the master system version to the megadrive one. I just noticed somebody already pointed this out. D'oh!

Sonic arguably better on SMS too.

GP32Spain had a Top100 list for the most common consoles. It has been offline since the hack, but you can look at a cached version here

I agree that the Genesis version of Starflight is better than the PC version (and I too wish that Starflight 2 had also been ported), but there are quite a few people who would disagree with it. The crux of their arguement is that there was a LOT changed in the process of porting, so much so that they're essentially different games.

I was also a little disappointed that destroying the Uhlek brainworld on the Genesis version did NOT stop me from being attacked by Uhleks.

Its quite amazing that people still think the amiga which is a home computer like a PC or Mac is still labled a console..

The only rom the amiga ever had was Kick star its OS!

ah the uneducated confused youth of today!

Amiga = computer

CD32 = console (uses amiga technology)

Write out 1000 times :p
