Hi,

I'm not a *total* noob, but it seems the battery LED isn't working on my GP2X - I understand that it probs won't work as "standard" due to shortfalls in the firmware (have tried 1.4.0 and am now running cramfs), but it also doesn't work when writing direct to the GPIO [eg using the GPIO example from the wiki] :(

Is this behaviour to be expected, or does it perhaps indicate a faulty unit?

Cheers
Tony

If it's not working with the code on the wiki, then perhaps you could pull apart your unit and see if the LED is soldered on correctly? The korean's (or should that be GPH) don't seem to be that good at hand soldering.

Nope, seems to be all correctly soldered - Appears to be the correct way round, no dry joints etc :( Will have to wait until next week when I get home to test with a meter to see if it's trying to power the LED, but doesn't look good :( Oh well, is only a battery LED that doesn't work properly in any case I guess :p lol

Cheers
Tony

I LOVE your user name :)

Even if it were functional, in 1.4 FW the light comes on sometimes halfway thru the batteries' life, and sometimes not at all ...

TBH, It was more for the disk indicator in UAE4ALL rather than as a battery indicator that I wanted it to work, and the lack of light made me notice/worry. Hey-ho. Just wondered if I had done something stoopid as a noob gp2x coder, but clearly not: The backlight part of the wiki example works fine :(

What is the red LED supposed to indicate? Does it warn when the battery is running low?

Supposed to, but doesn't work so well in practice.

Probably not enough battery power ;)
