Could there be a Bally Astrocade emulator made for the Pandora?

Very old school but still I would love to play MUNCHER on the Pandora. :)

Wouldn't MESS or Mame? normally handle this?
you are absolutely correct sir!!

i should have looked before I leaped    :D

***With that said...I seem to not know exactly where to place the muncher file I want to use.

In others words what I am trying to convey is that there is a bunch of already included games but how do I add one when I do not see those games on the card via mass storage??

I placed Astrocade bios .zip with  Vectrex bios .zip in roms folder but where does the game go? There are already a bunch of Vectrex games included that play great!! I just do not see them on mass storage via card inspection?

There is a Astrocade section on PanMess  and the 3 games that are built in the unit are playable..GUNFIGHT is one of them but again I do not see them on my card but they play from Pan Mess well. I used to own a Astrocade so I know there are  3 games built in the unit.

I will inspect further.

am I a mess? :p

** In the image file I see all the vectrex games .bin  in a vectrex folder so I placed muncher.bin in a a made up astrocade folder but it did not show up . Maybe astrocade games are zipped....??

** might be a  proper labeling situation w/files...i will report.

** renamed my  Astrocade folder to Bally Professional Astrocade as in Panmess satrt up and now there is no Astrocade anything. Leave well enough alone I guess??

Sorry for the scattered multiple posts but I guess my real question is how do you place games in Panmess?

I see a bunch of Vectrex games that play great. I see they are in the image file & .bin .

How and where do you place other games so they will play?? For example MUNCHER for Bally Astrocade? or any genere ?

I placed the proper bios in roms folder , made up a Bally professional arcade folder in images folder , placed muncher.bin in there just like Vectrex but no game shows!!

Any help would be appreciated.

I did read the instruction manual to create a snap folder. Does anyone here play games on this other than the ones included ???

i cannot find the suggested file/bios 1.02 anywhere!!

I am a mess  with panmess  :p

Any help would be kind and appreciated.

There should be a folder called roms in the PabMess appdatadirectory.

Copy your zipped roms there.

To summarize the previous post..

Does anyone here play games on this emulator other than the ones included?

If so how?

The instructions say to place the bios there. Unless I read wrong.

Which I thought was strange.

Maybe an incorrect rom?

Mindlord should be able to help you here. He ported PanMESS

In MESS are the following folders :

artwork> vectrex.zip

diff

hi

image>vectrex> all the vectrex games in .bin

inp

lib> copying, libsdl-1.2.so.0

memcard

nvram

rom> vectrex.zip......which is the bios!!!

sample

snap>coco 0000.png,0001,0002,0003,coco3.png

software

sta

Where /what/how do I do to place a Astrocade game in here such as Muncher or anything else for that matter?

Why is the bios in Rom and Vectrex games show and work well??

What is really strange is that initially there was Bally professional Arcade listed w/ the 4 built in games. Since adding a folder and bios the menu will not display it anymore and even if I reload the pnd and remove my folders it will not display anymore.

Bear in mind that with a lot of old cart based system, emulators classify the cart images as being BIOS files, because on the arcade machines, that's basically what the games are.  That's confused me in the past.

I've not used PanMESS, but on PanMAME that appdata ROM folder is where the games go.

So where do the bios go then?

Does one make up a bios folder? Or do the bios and roms go together in the roms folder?

Linke in MAME I would think that both, bios and gameroms go into the roms folder.

This is a mess w/ PanMess.   I would love to know who is using this emulator and playing games on it other than Vectrex??

Well at least I took the remaining Vectrex games I did not have from PanMess and transfered them over to my Vectrex emulator.

As far as I know, there are not that many people zsing it as it is more or less an beta experiment.

For most homeconsoles there are more effective emulators to use.

You can write an pm to the pndauthor to ask or read the AdvanceMESS documentation here:

http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/doc.html

If this still doesn't help, I don't know what else you could try.

Maybe read the releasethread...

Is there even support for your game in this MESS version?

Well not exactly. The Bally game console was on the PanMess menu list. . I really wanted to play MUNCHER for the Bally Astrocade. Trashy suggested PanMess. I did notice that PanMess had one Bally game which was the 4 in 1 software that came built in the Bally Astrocade console. So this is what inspired me to play this game that I used to love. I got excited!!! Atari has a hack I downloaded on Stella but it is not very good and cannot hold a candle to the original MUNCHER.

Now I will say this to you and maybe you will not believe it........ I tried arranging the Astrocade folder just like the Vectrex . Since Vectrex was the only one I could view. I could not find where the Bally 4 in 1 rom was located  on the sd card nor anything else except what I listed on my previous thread.. Guess what??..after I did this the entire Astrocade listing vanished on PanMess. When I attempted to re download the pnd it never showed again on that menu. Even on a different card!! Even after clearing appdata & pnd 5 times. I cannot find where it went on my Pandora. It was not in Thunar. I did not know where else to look since it never showed on the sd card in the first place. Bally Professional Arcade never appeared again in the PanMess console menu.

This has got to be the weirdest emulator I ever toyed with. It is torture too for me because there are soooooo many systems listed on there......Arcadia 2001 ,Bally Astrocade a personal favorite.,MegaDuck to name a few. How to play this is a mystery and I read everything I was able to.

I just wanted to play MUNCHER and thought maybe a Bally Astrocade emulator could be created. I wish I could do it. This  was an experience all the same.

Oh well    ;)
