Could somebody package this up as a pnd?
It is a very intuitive and easy audio recording and cutting software.
(and we could try out our mics :) )

I THINK it's available in the Debian ARM package, so it might be a easy solution...
B!

Yes I would like it also... I used it to mix a radio drama

www.spiritblade.net/alliance (look for Untold Alliances)

I'd really like to try the mic also!

Just waiting for notaz and the team to get the audio debugging sorted out, and a new hotfix out there, and then I'll build Audacity into a PND ..

With all due respect why wait? Notaz has solved the issue it will be in a hotfix how does this affect a PND? I'm probably missing something :p

Exactly .. I don't want to do anything on the subject if I have to deal with people who have crappy Audio quality .. I want it to just work, and if there are problems, be able to say "please make sure you have the notaz hotfix for audio installed" ..

Regardless, I'll batch up an Audacity PND Beta soon .. just lets get the audio stuff settled.

I'm dubious about this, because I know how much temporary/swap Audacity uses. That's reading and writing a lot of data to an SD card. I have a feeling it will be sluggish :(

I've run it on my Touchbook .. its not too bad, definitely useable as a general-purpose recorder/player with editing features ..

Anyway, I'm in the middle of building it on my Pandora now, I'll leave it running overnight and see if I can get it sorted for a release by the weekend. ;)

I'll be happy to beta test it for you. I even find ways to crash the normal versions of Audacity. I guess you could say I edit hard, man. Yeah... I just edit too damned much. I'm the edit hardcore master. Audacity can't keep up with how hard I edit - it just gives in, turns around and says 'Holy crap, you edit too fast and too hard. Sorry open source has to let you down, you're too good for us dude'. The world hasn't built software that can contain these skills, not yet.

Hehe. I got my sister using Audacity (in XP) to record her DJ sets. Now, after one too many malware disasters, I'm installing Ubuntu on her laptop. The first thing she asked was "Can I use the same recording program?" Why yes, yes you can. It's a little thing, but a big help with the transition.
