If you're interested in computers, as most of us obviously are, basic knowledge of
English is a must, I think. In Switzerland, just a year or two ago, they started
to teach preliminary English already in kindergarten.
If I'd live in the US, probably I wouldn't care too much about foreign languages.
But since I'm Swiss, and there are 4 different official languages in this tiny little
country, it's crucial to know at least some of them. So I speak Swiss German (as
mother tongue), German, French, English, and some Italian and Spanish.
This isn't so extraordinary here.
