Just curious :)

- Wiz has smaller but seemingly superior controls (though I sort of like DaveC modded cap on GP2x)
- Wiz has superior but smaller screen
- GP2x takes AA's
- Wiz is generally (But not always) faster
- GP2x has USB Host (F100)
.. and so on.

I'm bettering a few peopel moved up to Wiz, but sort of prefer their old GP2x, though I'm expecting a clear victory for Wiz.

The Wiz is all around a more comfortable handheld for me. I think all handhelds should strive to have the form factor of the Gameboy micro, which is easily the best designed handheld ever. On the other hand, I have a soft spot for the old GP2X.

Of all the Gamepark consoles though, the GP32 is my favorite. I loved that it stole the color scheme from the Dreamcast and it was so crazy ahead of its time. I still load it up once in a while to play Pinball Dreams, Super Plusha, Sushi Panic and that game where you would guide the target through walls with holes in it (forget the name...). I miss the days of the GP32. :(

I have played in a week more hours on the Wiz that in 2 years in my 2 GP2X consoles. (F100 , F200)

The controls are far better on Wiz.

The screen is not perfect but is a lot better than F100 and F200 screens. The black level is incredible.

The 7 inches less screen is not a problem for me :)

I am very happy with the Wiz, a lot more than i expected.

I don't play hardware, I play software on hardware and GP2X has a huge software library. Software stack is growing for the Wiz, but I expect it will be surpassed by Pandora very soon after its release. So GP2X wins hands down right now, and when the odds change Pandora will be there to take its place.

Lacuna!

I'm seriously considering buying another GP32 (sold mine years ago, regrettably) just to play that...

I also would vote for the GP32, it was way ahead of its time.

Then GP had to go and split, like an awesome band breaking up after just one album.

That's the one! Such a great game! It came out of one of those coding competitions GBAX ran. We always got such awesome stuff during those competitions...

I never was that big a fan of Lacuna (it's addictive; I'm just not very good at it), but I do love Bolcataxian (the best shooter I've played, unfortunately the coder never finished it because the companies that were supposed to give the prizes at ADIC2004 never followed through). And I have no idea where he went after 2006 - his email no longer works.

The GP32's problem was that the diagonals often stopped working after a few years.

for me too maybe gp32 will be first. But seriously the wiz beat the gp2x and gp32 all the way. the screen quality, the black level, color quality, snes emulator, picodrive with no blur (very little compared to others handheld), very good control ( d-pad), very small unit,

I really haven't played around with my Wiz to form an opinion. All my other consoles keep getting my attention.
Of the consoles that I own, I think the GP32 got the most attention though closely followed by Zodiac, GP2X.
My A320 is also nice, though it certainly feels cheaper than the others.

My GP32 is probably still my sentimental favorite:- long battery life, fun and challenging to dev with (I like it's limitations!), nice controls (though the clicking is a bit noisy).

GP should have launched a Super-GP32 - same unit with 32MB ram and 266Mhz CPU. Would have been most excellent.

(Advert: Anyone want to sell or mod for me a 32MB GP32?)

Maybe you could give the Wiz a second look someday if just for classic arcade stuff. Those classics do look good on that screen, especially ones that you rotate or have allot of black in them.
