At the end there is a giant explosion and a twist - it is infact Eugene Levy who is dead and thus Hollywood is saved from its own cancer.
He's fallen a long ways from his SCTV days. I'm not sure how many Americans or Europeans saw that show, but he was pretty good on it.daclassicgamingmaster posted on Feb 4 2007 at 11:21 AM said:ahahaacraigix posted on Feb 4 2007 at 11:16 AM said:I've got a better idea, Hollywood remakes 'Innerspace' with Eugene Levy shrunk down and sent in to kill all the cancers.

Come on, Eugene levy isn't that bad.
I own a few of the seasons and agree that he was pretty good.Ravnos posted on Feb 4 2007 at 02:50 PM said:He's fallen a long ways from his SCTV days. Did you read the article dave? That's the point; no one wants to because they cannot profit from it. It's cheap to make.DaveC posted on Feb 4 2007 at 03:01 PM said:Deleted User posted on Feb 4 2007 at 03:59 PM said:
It is bogus.
If it weren't some drug company somewhere would pick it up and sell it.

This isn't necessarily bogus. Do a google search. Look up dichloroacetate on wikipedia and see what it says.
I hate to break it to you, but the University of Alberta is not two rednecks in a shack with a typewriter, it's one of the best universities in Canada. Maybe you should do as dcgm suggests and actually look into it. Otherwise you might come off as ignorant.DaveC posted on Feb 4 2007 at 01:34 PM said:Yeah, yeah.
And the perpetual motion free energy generator that was mentioned by some hoaxster before was kept quiet and bought out by big oil companies to sell gas.
George Bush blew up the twin towers to get re-elected.
Meh, I don't buy these conspiracy theories. If this cure was real and that easy to make SOMEONE would pick it up somewhere.

Although this indicates that DCA could some day be used in humans as a therapy against cancer, clinical trials of the effect of DCA on humans with cancer have not started yet.[8] An article in New Scientist[8] Original article appeared in the journal Cancer Cell.[9] magazine suggests that clinical trials may require public funding, as the lack of a patent reduces the incentive for any company to invest in research.

...
A guy called Doctor Robert Beck took the idea and worked out a way to do what they did but without needing to apply the charge outside the patient and out of his own money tests were conducted which did cure people and some non European clinics use the process.

All I know is that the guy who developed the final version gave away all the designs to anyone who wants to build one for free, never charged a penny for his work, and used it himself and that many people claim it has helped so who knows?

Especially if there's supporting evidence that something may be true. We don't like to think that there are bad people in positions of authority, but there are. People are people no matter their station. Power attracts the corruptible. Of course, there are also good, well-meaning people who understand what it means to serve the public trust.

But for this to be held back EVERYONE has to be bad. Other wise all it takes is ONE good person to make this happen if it were real. I have a hard time believing that everyone that could make this available is bad, it just doesn't make sense.
I'm not in any way saying that it isn't a problem that drug companies show little or no interest in potentially promising new compounds that they can't patent. It can be a problem, just as "orphan" drugs often don't make it to market because there aren't enough patients who could benefit from the them to make it profitable for drug companies to invest in developing and marketing them.
