Amd Sempron Vs Athlon

Sempron is the new name for the Duron range. It's like Pentium and mmmmm, can't think of the cheap intel right now.

Yep, AMD Sempron is the new replacement for the duron, It`s basically an XP core with a lower mhz rating but a higher (FSB) bus speed.

Older XP`s (Thunderbird core, I think) used to run at 266mhz FSB. The new Sempron (Duron replacement) run at 333mhz and 400mhz FSB.

From what i`ve seen/heard, A Sempron 2200+ (or was it 2400+) Is equivalent to the old XP 1800+ 266mhz FSB speed wise.

ok thanks..

I read somewhere that the Socket A Sempron is slower than a Athlon, BUT the Socket 754 (I think it was) Sempron Is Faster than a Athlon

gah the semprons suck compared to the barton cores of old but the sempron 3100+ which really isn't a sempron at all as its a completely different core truly rocks and overclocks in ridiculous amounts
