Yes, AnubisOS is planned, but the AROS community has not fractured to the extent you are hinting at. AROS fans, by and large, do not see AnubisOS as a threat as they have different strengths and the projects are in fact beneficial to each other (to go into detail about why this is the case would require bringing up the history behind AnubisOS and needlessly derail this topic). Take the ARM port for example, the main developer involved is doing work to port both AROS and AnubisOS to ARM.

Seeing as AnubisOS is still (to the public at least) in the planning stages, AROS on ARM seems the more likely prospect for Pandora users wanting an Amiga-like OS.

Well linux we know will work... with WiFi bluetooth USB and the SGX

but what else will run ? so I am starting a list.

QNX (pretty tiny featureful RTOS..3530 not currently supported being considered... lets go poke them LOL) http://community.qnx.com/sf/wiki/do/viewPa...owDetails=false

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Hills_Software << their OSs are probably compatible (just out about them might be intresting they claim royalty free binary distribution of the OSs and resonable prices on source)

embedded versions of windows (who cares.....)

Symbian

Palm

So one question i have is as developers what which of these alternatives OSs interest you most?

None of the above.

QNX is nice, yes- but it's damed expensive and you're going to have fun doing it for the Pandora.

Green Hills' stuff is more geared for avionics and the like- you're going to be miserable trying to make it all go on a Pandora and provide the systems services you're going to need for gaming, etc.

Embedded Windows...heh...I'm not brain-damaged and I don't intend on inflicting it on myself if I can help it.

Symbian's not open source yet, and it's license for something like the Pandora's not going to be cheap- not to mention that it's evil to code for.

PalmOS - Dying. They're pulling the plug on it. It's a front-runner, but it's not designed with some of the functionalities in mind with some of the things we'd like to bring to the table with the Pandora.

Not true (about expense). See here:

You as an individual might be able to do it... But be careful- they might just count you as a commercial vendor.

Moreover, the Pandora crowd can't and if you're making stuff for it, people aren't going to be happy w/you if you make something for it that requires them to boot into it. And this doesn't even get into BSP work-up. I'm pretty certain that they don't have a BSP for the Pandora. ;)

@Svartalf it was awhile back when i made that post... palm hadn't killed PalmOS yet

Im looking foward to an ARM port of Haiku ... hopefully by the time the next gen HW comes out where it will shine

and drivers are slowly becoming more open which is good.... wonder how different the SGX 540 is from the one in the pandora... as far as the rev engr efforts
