lolz, why not? as for the amd parts, they are cheaper than intel/nvidia...and they were just example specs!

see how much my game sucks on your hardware? Upgrade Now to the GT999 and experience the way the game was meant to be played! Buy Buy Buy!

Edit: read the blog, im sure all firearm companies are going to be lining up to include their brandname for use in a game that lets you be a bad guy

powerful sarcasm here...but not only terrorist but cops, fbi, tournaments and other positive uses of firearms!

so let me ask then, how do you monetize games...while having a low cost of entry?
Games are intended to be played, not monetized. You propose to moar monetize the content, not the game. In your case the content is like low-budget one.
The idea itself always was used like in sport simulator by branding slave names(you can buy IRL the slave), same for car simulator (omg I ran on ferrary from teh police, i go google and buy the car).

So you do not propose anything new, and your presentation sucks.

Seriously the best way to make money with your games is by making a good game. PERIOD
It's not easy though, but any other route to forceful make money out of your work will just get you disrespect and hate.

Start by making a few free titles, make yourself known as a good game designer, then move onto a bigger project and try to sell it.
That's not an easy and pretty time consuming way obviously and honestly there is no way around that. If you are just trying too hard to make money out of whatever shitty game you produce you will just fail miserably like those F2p games that spawn all over the world.
(There is of course the possibility of landing a smash hit with a mediocre game - say Angry Birds - and make millions of cash, but you have got to realize that's a chance of one in a million).

Few people actually can live off indie game development and if you are interested in that you should just do it for fun, not for money (not saying you must not earn money with it, but that should not be the top priority).

So back to your original idea, I really really dislike it ... a lot. (Quotes like “which is the cheapest way to make money online,” strike me as a very horrible way of thinking).

the idea is for the game to be free/low barrier of entry!
So it is like the Olympic Champions could enter Special Olympics?

So this game goes from 'My idea is ..' to 'we can partner with amazon ..' to '.. submit those changes to the committee who governs the game.'

From a no-cash start-up that's a whole load of infra-structure you're going to have to support.

But basically you're suggesting shopping is a valid form of game :/

Just to clarify my "no" response. I believe this has been done to some extent and in one form or another on various other games, such as Second Life and on Playstation Home. There are some other ones as well, but it's years since I saw them and I've totally forgotten their names :/

You are kind of naive...

How many companies will want to have their products advertised in "one of those killer vidogames that are responsible for today's youth going on killing sprees"? So you will have to either ditch Smith&Wesson and Colt or the rest of your advertisers.
And what would happen to an Apple Store if you drive your BMW Z4 into it? And how would the car be damaged in said impact? Of course you would have to discuss such things with the sponsors who will be paying you for having those things in your game...

I'm not saying it can't be done, but there are things like this to be contemplated.
