I know there is an adapter available, and I was just looking @ xD cards, and they can go upto 512, and their voltage is 3.3v, which is the max amount the GP will handle right? So would it be possible to get a 512 xD and a xD to Smc adapter, and have 512 available to your gp32_console Has anyone tried this?

So it would just need to be patched? If the bios could be patched to utilize 32megs of RAM, patching to read up to 512megs of space wouldn't be too hard would it?

Spiv's the man to answer that question, really.

OK here's the answer per #gp32dev:

1) There are no SMC specs above 128M. If you were able to get it above 128M, the BIOS and Libs wouldn't understand it. That means rewriting a lot of code. This also means those phantom 3.3v 256M SMC cards won't work either.

2) Furthermore, the way the 3.3v XD-to-SMC adapter maps the storage memory only allows up to 128M. Higher capacity XD cards may work, but only 128M would be recognized.

Moved to F.A.Q. section to let this die.

Edit: If you want higher capacity storage, and know a little bit about Linux, you may be interested in gpLinux's USB support: http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=13990
