I'm doing some research on it and I was wondering does the GP2x with 275MH dual processor play mario rpg good?

If you're talking about Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. No! If you had done some research you would've found this.

It does not run because it uses the SA-1 chip, a special microprocessor.

Edit: That does not mean of course that the gp2x will never be able to run it, but as of the time being, non of the snes emulators for gp2x support this.

The "275Mhz" unit does not actually have a different processor in, it just means the processor has been tested to run stable overclocked to 275Mhz.

yep, this should definitly be stickied somewhere... BIG!

... the register... <_<

It may annoy you slightly but it (the register article) has drawn a few more people to the cause including me. I'd never heard of this console until the reg article, but after several hours reading I decided I had to have one.

I should be placing an order in the next few days once I get my paycheck :D

The whole problem is that the text on gp2x.co.uk is deceptive. It's implied that this is a 'new 275 MHz version' of the GP2X. It also still claims WMA playback and some other things that were proven false long ago or are pretty bad ideas to buy the GP2X for (*cough* quake *cough*) given how they perform.

What's wrong with Quake performance? It seems fine to me.

Ditto, Quake runs perfectly for me, fullspeed with sound @275mhz, and pretty nippy even at 200mhz.

Epicenter, no offence, but I'm sure on another thread, you mentioned that you were going to stop bitching about the "flaws" of the GP2X?

Quake also runs fine for me. :)
EDIT: I will agree the wording is not precise in stating that the GP2Xs are just tested to run stable at 275MHz... but that's just marketing for ya, The WMA thing needs to changed though, since that is blatently wrong.

So saying Quake runs badly (which isn't true) isn't a complaint about the gp2x?

But yeah, Craig needs to get rid of the .wma thing, and rewrite the description of the "275Mhz version".
