A nice reading for people concerned with partition alignment.
Short resume:
GParted will already align partitions so that access time is minimized (to 1MB boundary by default), but SD cards have even bigger internal units (erase blocks) which affect writing speed and lifespan. So it might be a good idea to align to 4 or 8 MB boundary (ideally, discover your erase block size with flashbench and align to that).
Sidenote: I never quite understood why the author suggested to align partitions to erase block boundaries, while most operations are done with clusters. So IMHO unless you have clusters bigger than 1MB, there is minimal gain compared to default GParted alignment.
Personally I prefer to give myself ownership of the SD folders (i.e. sudo chown 1000 /media/nameOfCard/myfiles), but if you consider your pandora a single-user device then you're fine either way.
