Do you not listen at all? That is NOT the way it works! There is NO distortion. Every pixel gets the same weight and is in the correct place. The thing that causes blurring is that the stretched pixel overlaps with several of the display pixels and the stuff ending up in one display pixel which might be parts of four different original pixels is then added together. This creates the blurring effect but it is not that bad if you stretch to a higher res. Take a look at the pictures above...
