As we all know, the 4th of July is always celebrated with some fantastic aerial fireworks, though, some people like to light their own fireworks at home. I'm one of those people; I love fireworks. I enjoy them so much that I literally stare at them for hours on end! So, post in here what you plan on lighting tonight (preferrably with a pic) to celebrate our Independence Day!

Here's what I'm lighting (Note: I live in the central valley of California, so it's illegal to light things like mortars. So, what I'm lighting is going to look like crap compared to what most of you will have :D ):

Changed :D Edit: It won't change for some reason...

I don't have fireworks :( Becuase:

1. I'm living in Germany and since no one else is talking about it, my parents have actually forgotten that it is 4th of July :(
2. My dad is a safety freak. He'd make us get all the weakest fireworks possible (little sticks that shoot sparks into the air and small stuff, no flying things), and make us wear safety glasses. When we set it off, he'd make sure that everyone was 20ft away and only let himself light them.

Mabye 2 is a bit exaggerated, but it's sort of like that ;)

In Derry for 3-4 years. In Eglinton if you know it. We go back across pretty often. We stay with Pete Sherridan with his family if you've heard of him. He's pretty important in the police force over there. It's the only time I ever sleep in a house with bullet proof glass and fencing :).

Edit: And no fireworks for Independence Day here, but the Exeter festival's starting so there were tons of 'works going off last night anyway ;).

Sorry but id be at the other end of the spectrum, Were sort of the reason he has that bullet proof stuff.

The main thing I learned from living there was that people are just mates, whatever their views. I have tons of mates over there and I don't really know/bothered about what their political views. All just out for a laugh :).

I'm obviously against terrorism, what's that going to help :), but I don't really have a view on much else in Ireland.

Edit: So my point is I'm not at any end of any spectrum :S. We just stay with mates. He happens to be a policeman. That's how 90% of the people think over there in my experience too.

Did you travel outside of the area that much?

Believe me 99% of the country is at one end or the other (That makes no sense), What I mean is its either one way, or the other, with them being 51%, and us being 49%.

But hey, you got your views and I got mine, were not really here to discuss Ireland :D

Yeah sorry for goin off topic 1 last time. I did travel around a lot. My point is people obviously have their views, and they are opposite most of the time, but they don't let it get in the way of friendship most of the time.

In my experience anyway, unless things have changed a lot in the past year or 2.

*Whisper* I think we hijacked this thread*Whisper*

Nah you must have been in a good area, did you visit free derry? I love that place.

Dont you Englanders get updates on events in Ireland? There is still rioting, but not like the good old days.

To tell you the truth I wish the war was still going, I would have enrolled in the youth wing by now, I just think its an amazing thing to do with your life.

But thats just the way I was dragged up, I mean the Army in your street, beating your Da, wreaking your house wasnt a pretty sight when you were 4 years old, so it put the hatered in me. (The cops were worse than the Army on many occasions, Ill share some storys if you ask nicely)

Stop it please! I should split this away because your comments invite a variety of passionate and hilarious responses. Take it to PM before you break Azure's poor little heart.

In the long run it cost most of the world its freedom.

I am from N.Ireland. I deffinetly do not care whether a person is catholic or prodestant.

I go to an integrated school so i have grown up around both sides.

It only bothers me when someone calls me a fenian or sumthin, i dont like that.

but thats no different than being in anyother country. the amont of scally bastards who slag me off when i go to england for being a "paddy", or even for just skating is just as bad.

btw i live just outside of limivady, closer to there than coleraine anyway. thats kinda near eglinton.
