The VM is not enough to run android apps. You need the android environment as a whole including all the other processes running on the machine to run android apps. People have already been asking the same questions over on the official android lists, you can read about it over there.
Going to put it on ebay i think unless someone else wants to buy it outright (US only). there is nothing wrong with it but i just dont use it at all. Its probably got maybe 4 or 5 total hours of use in the 1.5yrs I've owned it. Not sure which model it is but I got it from Lik-Sang back in Feb...
Once they release the source code for EVERYTHING or someone comes up with a complete F/OSS replacement for the interface (and its apps) then I'll be happy. Having to wait a month or two between fixes is annoying.

then it didn't actually upgrade the kernel. format your SD card and put the .img file on there all by itself. power on with the SD card in and it'll tell you thats its updating. if it doesn't you'll have to try a different SD card. As of now your system is only patched with the new software...
these guys really shouldn't mess with the linux kernel copyright owners. i dunno what the courts are like where they make these things but it would take very little to get an injunction placed on sales in europe. i'm sure the fact that the code has been provided will end up on slashdot which...

fellows writeright universal screen protectors. you can get them 12 for $10 bucks or so. trim to 23x17 and they fit perfectly. I can't believe i paid $6 for just one "GP2X' brandname protector. :(

the joystick kinda sucks :( they really should have used one of those nes style (+) pads. don't suppose the joystick is replaceable some how? another weird thing is that I downloaded 1945 and my system wouldn't finish booting. just sat there forever. i had to remove the sd card and boot up...
I got one of those little thin screen protector with my gp2x (arrived today whoo hoo!!) and put it on top of the clear hard plastic protector. now I've got a bazillion bubbles all over the screen that I can't work out. Stupid thing was like 6 bucks. worthless. There have to be better ones...
