    Semi-brickage After Firmware 2 Update

OK, I'll try this when I get home and see what happens. EDIT: Nah. Didn't work. Back it goes then. :)

    Semi-brickage After Firmware 2 Update

OK. On further advice from EvilDragon, it looks like the problem is faulty NAND, and the only solution is an exchange. I suppose the upgrade to Firmware 2 is what found the bad blocks. Oh well, I'll try and arrange an exchange. I'll keep the thread updated. It least it wasn't my fault! Hurrah!

    Semi-brickage After Firmware 2 Update

Yeah, that's the unbricking guide that I tried, I did the kernel + filesystem bits, but not the uboot bit. Maybe I should just go ahead and do the whole thing. At the moment I've got nothing to lose.

    Semi-brickage After Firmware 2 Update

Yup, that's how I've been starting the update process each time. EDIT: OK, I left it at the "formatting" stage for about 5 hours last night. I'm pretty sure it's not going to go past it. :)

    Semi-brickage After Firmware 2 Update

OK, here we go... I've tried updating to Firmware 2.0. It updates the firmware successfully, does the patching part, but then never gets past the formatting stage. It was done from a freshly formatted card, which has always worked for previous updates. I've tried the update a few times now...

    Firmware 2.0.0 Next Week!

OK, after reading the unbricking guide, I've come to the following conclusions. When switching it on without an SD card in: 1) I'm getting the black screen with the GP2X logo and the gay jingle, so u-boot is fine. 2) It's getting as far as the green loading screen, so the kernel is fine. 3)...

    Firmware 2.0.0 Next Week!

Tried it twice, leaving it for about half an hour both times. It updates the firmware, does the patching part, but then never gets past the formatting bit. I don't have another card to try it with, but this one has always worked for previous updates. Edit: I've brought it in to work with me...

    Firmware 2.0.0 Next Week!

Been stuck on the "Formatting" screen for about 15 minutes now....

    N E Thing Good

GNU Aspell would probably just be a recompile, and would run fine under Sterm. :)

    Frotz Z-code Interpreter

Ah, I just noticed that they linked to your upload from the front page. It's probably the exact same binary anyway! :)

    Frotz Z-code Interpreter

It's already public. I didn't modify the source.

Z-Code Games at the IF Archive - Enjoy! You have to scroll through the characters at the bottom with the stick. It's a bit of a ball-ache, but it's better than nothing :)

    Frotz Z-code Interpreter

Thanks to the beautiful and curvy Sterm, I've managed to do a quick port of of Frotz for the gp2x. (Yes, I have blu-tack on my joystick, what of it?) I need to figure out how to get it to compile with ncurses support under the arm-linux toolchain, but it's good for starters. I'll upload it to...

Saracan Review For Cpc, C64 And Spectrum

The coolest thing about the Amstrad CPC version of this, was that the screenshots on the back of the box were from a different game!

Public Announcement From The Official Web

They were very strong, but more prominent on blue and green as you say. They were particularly bad when the cpus were under heavy load, when using emulators and suchlike. They're completely gone after the 1.01 update. The slight flickering and banding is a little bit irritating, but at least...

Public Announcement From The Official Web

Ah, cool. Someone else with the same problem as me. ;) I didn't notice it until after the firmware upgrade, so that must be it then. I also have some slight flickering, but it's more like a crt monitor at 60Hz than any of the really nasty dimming and flickering that others are seeing. The...

Public Announcement From The Official Web

There's been a few "screen problems" threads, and I'm not entirely sure where I should post this. I certainly don't want to start a new one, so I'm going to post it here. My gp2x has a slight - for want of a better phrase - contrast banding problem with the screen. It's only been noticable...
