Pandora in Japan: New official distributor (2013-06-19)

If you need a Japanese review, I can give you one in Japanese. I originally bought mine to get work done while riding the train to work in Tokyo in the morning. There's no way you can pull out a laptop on a rush hour train and hope to use it standing up while pinned against the wall with some...

    EvilDragon's Pre-Order Survey Thread

Got my 1GHz pandora the other day (from about 130 in the original 1Ghz upgrade queue), after a prerequisite two-month wait from the postie who seemed to take forever to get it to me after I got my initial email. Awesome little device. Hats off to the guys for FINALLY getting there for me and...

Got the email. queue position 137

FINALLY got the pandora! I was about 130-ish in the original 1Ghz queue, and I didn't upgrade any further to speed things getting out of Craig's stuck queue. Got the mail of shipping on the 8th of Feb. Finally arrived over the weekend. Shame that all in all, it took five years. It's a great...

    128GB SDXC card

There's always the SD association formatter (also known colloquially as the SD card un-f**ker) https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ This will usually fix any SD card that's had it's formatting and partitioning corrupted. It turns out that...

    128GB SDXC card

Decided to try again on a different computer. I did a FAT32 format on the 128GB card in the SD-slot of a Windows 8 laptop with the FAT32 GUI format tools, and it works! So all is well. I'm drooling over the possibilities with this card once my pandy gets here.

    128GB SDXC card

Thanks for all the help. I wasn't expecting such quick responses! I tried out the Windows GUI version of that fat32 format tool, but it didn't work and spat out a weird error message. I'll hang about and wait for my Pandora to show, and try Gparted or the command line. If the card is really...

    128GB SDXC card

Hi all, I recently came across an Extreme SanDisk 128GB SDXC card. (45MB/s !) In windows, it won't let me format the whole thing as FAT32, and instead comes as exFAT. I can however format it as NTFS How is this going to work in the Pandora? Will I need to partition the card into 4 32GB...

Merry christmas and a happy new year (2012-12-25)

I checked my 1Ghz queue number and it was 131. So that's great news, as the original 1Ghz 150 orders would *appear* to be getting cleared very soon. The email said that my pandora was getting shipped from Germany, so it makes sense that ED is handling all the orders and shipping for Craig's...

Merry christmas and a happy new year (2012-12-25)

I was about 133, but still nothing. Not going to cross-upgrade either, so as long as there's a steady flow of 1Ghz units going to Craig, I suppose I should hear something in..... ..... .....in..... ...... ......two months.

Merry christmas and a happy new year (2012-12-25)

Nope... still haven't received my 1Ghz unit from Craig. It's been over a month since Christmas, so a new update post from ED would be welcome. If we know how many units he sends to Craig each month, that would help ease the pain.

A further update on preorders (18th of November 2012)

I'm in exactly the same boat. (although I'm 1GHz queue #130-something). I ordered early 2009 IIRC.... so 4 years of wait. I'm not plunking down another dime until my ordered unit gets shipped. I'm not throwing good money after "bad" money at this point. With the unavailability of the money...

A further update on preorders (18th of November 2012)

Perhaps it's time that you forget about asking for EDs permission to help him, and to start helping him anyway by pointing your sales skills at his store that has Pandoras on hand. That seems to make sense to me. ...and where's my 1Ghz Pandora from the initial 150-unit-run upgrades? I'm not...

    Let's go - Help wanted :) (2012-10-01)

Seems totally unfair to expect more money to transfer the order over to ED. I never asked to be placed on Craig's queue for the Pandora when I ordered. Why should I be made to suffer for it? I was promised with the upgrade, that I would have it within a few months. Suddenly that's now an...

Did Sir Clive Have The Right Idea All Along?

You can still get decent keyboard from clicky keyboards (who seem to find and refurbish old and new model Ms) http://www.clickykeyboards.com/ ....or Unicomp, who have the patents and licence for the model M and who make brand new keyboards with the technology. http://www.pckeyboard.com/...

Test-Run of the 1GHz Pandoras happens today (2012-07-05)

That sounds like the most likely scenario. About the 128GB SD cards.... please test. I'm looking to get one too, but I am a bit skeptical and concerned that I may get stuck with a fake Chinese rip-off card, and/or something that won't work in the pandora.

Test-Run of the 1GHz Pandoras happens today (2012-07-05)

I sure hope one of these works in the Pandora. They're hard to find in shops, but lots of ebay sellers have them relatively cheap, given the amount of GB you get. Pretty amazing really because I paid about the same price for a 1GB SD card about ten years ago!

Test-Run of the 1GHz Pandoras happens today (2012-07-05)

Two questions: 1) Why have backlit keyboard when glow-in-the-dark lettering is likely possible (and less of a battery drain?) 2) what the hell (literally) is a 666 box?

... and production still is reliable and moving forward :) (2012-05-11)

Same experience here. I had to send a PM to Craig and send multiple emails to the openpandora email address to get their attention. I did eventually get through, however, and placed an upgrade and had a confirmed queue position number.... but not without a lot of dummy-spitting on my part...
