    Instant Pandora with a premium?

Hmmm, so we can't get a Pandora at the old price - in the queue with the rest - anymore? That's too bad; I'd been planning on picking one up once things queue-wise caught up. I'm disappointed, but not surprised. The Pandora was very attractively priced. While I'd still like one, at $500...

    "Pandora consoles banned from ebay"

See poll. Absurd. It's just a small computer, re: smartphone/netbook/tablet hybrid. Though I don't understand why it's marketed as a "console" at all, but that's just me.

One day late but more goodies instead

So long as they can keep this moving, all should be great. I know I desperately want one, but I really can't afford to tie up my distressingly meager funds without knowing. Thus, I'm holding out till I can pay and have my pandy shipped within the week :) I'm so excited that it's actually...

    Ultimate showdown!

Ok, I rarely even look at these threads, and had no intention at all of commenting, but that pic was amazingly apt. Awesome.

    Some quick Nubdate ;) (2010 - 11 - 25)

And it's highly likely they wouldn't let him in. I've been in manufacturing for years, and I've never seen a plant that would give a random passer-by a tour of active production. It's a security issue. If it were arranged in advance, with an appointment, maybe. But just driving down...

Using pandora as a regular Ubuntu computer.

I really like Unity. It's not perfect yet, but it's very good. Given a couple more iterations, it'll be wonderful. As you note, it's largely useless on a desktop, but for it's purpose - smaller touch screens - it's brilliant. I'd love to run Unity on the Pandora.

    Nubs and a Schedule (2010-11-04)

OT to pass the time while we wait for more news: My experience was much the same with my ex-wife. We sat down together, worked out something that we were both happy (or equally unhappy at least?) with, filled out the paperwork, had it notorized and that was that. Took one afternoon to work...

    Back-lit keyboard?

My interest in backlit keyboards isn't seeing the keys. Screens provide plenty of light, and after getting used to a keyboard who needs to see it anyways? I just think they look cool, and I enjoy molding hardware. Now, last time I looked at the Pandora parts site, it looked like the majority...

    Coming closer (2010-10-25)

This. Once a given manufacturer understands your requirements, they'll work very hard to continue to provide that. They may well charge you more in the future than they did initially, but if they in the future do meet requirements and commitments, then don't be too fast to drop them for...

    Coming closer (2010-10-25)

It's a rampant problem with manufacturing and production companies these days. It's a race to the bottom: Each underbids the other, then attempts to deliver products within those constraints. Quality suffers as a result, because quality costs. Unfortunately, you cannot choose a slightly more...

    Coming closer (2010-10-25)

Awesome :) Being as there's no chance whatsoever of my getting a batch 1 Pandy, this means that mine will certainly have replaceable nubs. Given that we can/will be able to order spares, I'll be able to order a spare set of plug-in nubs with my Pandy just in case. Fantastic :)

The day after shipping: Cases (2010-09-30)

Automotive paint. Same stuff you'd use if you were painting, say, a mouse or keyboard.

The day after shipping: Cases (2010-09-30)

No, even with a quicker turnover, there will be a minimum quantity run for any given colour, and it'll be fairly large in relation to Pandora production numbers anyways. They'd need to buy hundreds (at least, likely thousands) of each particular colour in order to get an even half-way...

    The 1ghz overclock

It will have an impact, but likely not a very significant one. You're only upping the voltage by a very small amount after all, and maintaining the same current draw (I believe) so the actual increase in power consumption would be fairly minimal. My understanding (which may be grossly...

The day after shipping: Cases (2010-09-30)

Interesting. They are made of ABS plastic, right? Could well be the case there. I work with PVC, which is clear in it's "natural" state, so we simply add coloured plastic to die the mix. I'm sure we quote things like that, but the actual fact is that because the coloured plastic is only...

    And so they double... (2010-09-30)

Honestly, if I was in his shoes, this is exactly what I'd do. Ordered multiples? You get one up front, the rest later when products are available. You want to get products into as many individual's hands as possible. More people with Pandora's = more happy customers showing their friends...

The day after shipping: Cases (2010-09-30)

Cool :) Definitely a faster process then. With extrusion, you can't break the stream of plastic (letting a hopper run out, for example) as getting it running again is an enormously time consuming - 30 minutes for a simple product, potentially hours for difficult ones. So, you shut off the...

    And so they double... (2010-09-30)

I certainly hope this is not the case. When producing and selling a product like this in very limited numbers, OPT should certainly not be selling groups of them to resellers. It's great to sell in bulk once you've got sufficient production, but to force customers who've paid in advance -...

The day after shipping: Cases (2010-09-30)

You want the plastic colour to generally match the paint colour, or else wear spots will look really, really bad. I'd forgotten that the Pandy was painted, though - the iCP, for example, is not.
