Caanoo Analogue Stick Floppy, Not Centring [Solved]

I figured out the joystick and mapped the connectors to what each should do. However, even with the joystick removed from the board, when I power the Caanoo on, it still behaves as though the down button is being continually pressed. I don't see any solder bridges on the board, so I'm having a...

    Caanoo Thumbstick

Hello again, I did succeed in opening the case and replacing the joystick, however once I turned it on, it continually scrolled downward as if the down button was being pressed. I removed the joystick and it still scrolls downward, even though there's no joystick attached. Any ideas?

Caanoo Analogue Stick Floppy, Not Centring [Solved]

Update... The power switch works fine.   The joystick almost works right, but it seems to be always pushing down. It will not respond to up, and in the button check app it shows that the joystick is always pointing down. If I point left or right, it displays as diagonal left or diagonal right...

Caanoo Analogue Stick Floppy, Not Centring [Solved]

I desoldered both parts from the board and ordered new ones.   The power switch looks excactly like the PSP power switch which also has on, off, and hold. The helpful chat guy at digikey pointed me towards this. I ordered it and will keep everyone updated if it works...

What Do You Think The Gp3X / Caanoo 2 Should Have?

Retro Vortex: Thanks for that awesome sketch. Looks great! Incorporates a lot of our desires while keeping the design aesthetic we know and love.   Well first of all, I LOVE my CAANOO. It has been (and continues to be) a learning experience. Which is why I bought a Caanoo: to cut my teeth on...

Still Using Your Gp32 In 2012

I'll be playing it and developing for it again as soon as I repair it. What's the point of an open gaming handheld but to "open" it, both hardware and software!

Caanoo Analogue Stick Floppy, Not Centring [Solved]

Haha, wonderful. Ok I did get it open, thank you for the tip on opening near the SD card. The metal bracing on the switch was indeed broken, and I'll have to replace the switch. For now I decided to close it back up until the part arrives, but in closing it, I accidentally broke the power...

    Caanoo Thumbstick

Also I can't seem to get the caanoo open. I took the screws out of the back but the outer case just won't open. I don't want to force it because I can tell the plastic is about to break. Is there any trick to it?

    Caanoo Cover Problem Solved

Thanks for the test image, I'm trying to open my caanoo for a different reason. I'm having trouble with my analog stick (it seems the handle has slipped off the joystick or something) and I'm trying to open the caanoo to adjust it.   Here's the problem: I took out the four screws on the back of...

    Caanoo Thumbstick

On another site, I found a similar suggestion   http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/254TA103B50B/254TA103B50B-ND/1755918   Is there a difference between the two other than price and part numbers?   Also, how do you open the Caanoo? I took out the four screws on the back, but the whole thing...

    Ide For Bennugd

I agree SolarLune, and I like your screenname. My question is, although I found a great explanation of how to set up bennuGD in komodo for Windows and have been using it, I am currently trying to learn linux and am currently running openSUSE with the XFCE desktop, and I'm wondering how to set up...

How Many Games Do You Have On Your Caanoo?

Interesting, no bell curve here! Probably too small a sampling, although caanooers are probably a pretty small and diverse group to begin with...

Great Games You've Found Since You Got Your Caanoo/wiz!

Interesting topic, and a good source for games I should probably check out. A lot of these are emulated games however, and I'm more interested in the homebrew games which is why I got interested in Caanoo to begin with. So far I'd have to list 3 games in particular that come to mind off the top...

    Riot Tag-Team Coding Competition

Well congratulations to the makers of Paper Wars (folding....) haha! I downloaded all the games and even with a lot of tinkering, only got about 1/3 of them to run. Of the few that I had no problem running, Paper Wars was definitely the most well executed, and aside from having little in the way...

Here's about all I've been able to crack. A button - Key.UP or keycode 38 B button - Key.LEFT or keycode 37 L button - Key.DOWN or keycode 40 Home button - Key.RIGHT or keycode 39 Joystick center button - [ key or keycode 219 Other than that, I couldn't get the other buttons to do anything with...

Sd Card - Not Always Mounted

When I turn on my caanoo, about half the time (seems to be random) the games, apps, etc. from the SD card don't show up. Physically removing and replacing the card makes them show up no problem, but I don't want to wear out the physical parts. Is this a regularly occuring phenomenon or is there...

    Usb Keyboard

Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to get the upgrade to 1.6.1 I figured out caanoowriter and how it uses that tedious onscreen keyboard. I'll look into Termula2x as suggested. As for caanoo buttons, they may yet work in the flash player, although I haven't fully cracked which buttons do what...

    Usb Keyboard

I would like to use the keyboard to control a flash game I'm developing. I tried plugging in a keyboard but it didn't do anything in the picklelauncher flash progam thing, although my touchscreen game worked fine. I also tried using the keyboard with the caanoo write app and it didn't seem to...
