    Slackware for Pandora 14.0

I just installed SL4P 14.0-6 and it runs pretty well. However, there's one catch: The sound is very quiet. The internal speakers can barely be heard and what comes out of the audio jack is about half as loud as I'd expect it. I already tried playing with alsamixer but the only thing that had...

Pandora Compiling Perl on the Pandora

Okay, I solved the problem... by installing Slackware. Turns out that SL4P's CPAN doesn't despise me. I now have beautiful, semi-reliable sound coming over the network. (For those interested in replicating it: The instructions boil down to "install SL4P, install Shairport, run Shairport".)

Pandora Compiling Perl on the Pandora

The error occurs every time I try to use CPAN to install anything. `cpan CPAN` yields the same result as `cpan HTTP::Request`. I'm running everything from the "Dev. Command Line Interface" provided by the Code::Blocks PND. I have a working theory, though: There is some kind of dependency issue...

Pandora Compiling Perl on the Pandora

I tried creating an ext2 file and mouting that as Code::Blocks's appdata directory. No dice. CPAN still crashes. Of course it would help if CPAN could generate error messages besides "Killed".

Pandora Compiling Perl on the Pandora

After the Code::Blocks Perl turned out to be unable to install any packages (CPAN consistently crashing the Perl runtime) I finally decided to just bite the bullet and wipe one of my SD cards to install Debian on it. Then the SD card died. (No, this has no bearing on the other issues I had; I...

Pandora Compiling Perl on the Pandora

I wasn't sure where to put this topic. I hope it belongs here. Perhaps you know about AirTunes, Apple's proprietary sound streaming technology. Perhaps you also know that there's now a working software implementation (Shairport), which is rumored to go great with a Raspberry Pi. I decided that...

    Release Pcsx-Rearmed

I suspect that PCSX always reports two memcards, even if it can't actually create the corresponding files. In that case you'd need to change the corresponding bit in PCSX itself to allow for only one memcard.

    Release Pcsx-Rearmed

I noticed this as well. This also happens on other emulators, especially the map thing. I found that memcard saving works since r8 but maybe the problem occurs only in cases I don't hit a lot.

    DosBox Mouse Issue with Touchscreen

I have similar issues, however in my case the shift is more or less random and also occurs with nub-clicking. It's really hard to hit anything. That's unfortunate, as it makes DOSBox pretty much useless for me.

    Release Pcsx-Rearmed

Firstly, among the most polished pieces of software. Secondly, no, because when I tried out PCSX I got hooked on Final Fantasy Tactics again to the point that I haven't even started up any other emulator yet. (Well, except for Dosbox. And that only because I tried it before PCSX.) Now if you'll...

    Release Pcsx-Rearmed

Wow. That was prompt. Enjoy your gaming time; you certainly deserve it. (Not just for the bugfix; PCSX-Rearmed is among the most polished pieces of software on my Pandora. Good job!)

    Release Pcsx-Rearmed

Huh. Turns out that the files are in a different place than I thought (they're in ./.pcsx/memcards which resolves to appdata/pscx_rearmed/.pscx/memcards) and they're actually there, complete with content. I could've sworn PCSX looked in another place for them before. However, while I can read...

    Release Pcsx-Rearmed

Ah, good to know. Thanks. I'll stick with r7, though. As long as I don't want to use another BIOS save states are a decent substitute. (Unless it turns out that save states are incompatible between versions...)

    Release Pcsx-Rearmed

Does this emulator support memcards? All Google gave me regarding that topic was something ED said dozens of pages ago in this thread (they don't work) and something someone said on the German board (they do work). When I tried to use them I found that only the second card was writable...

    Frage zur Bestellung

Hervorragend. (Ja, ich antworte spät. Das kommt davon, wenn man die Mailbenachrichtigung vergißt...) Und hey, keinen (zusätzlichen) Streß wegen dem Hinterherkommen. Also, zumindest bei meinem Gerät.

Pandora 2 wish list - Ultimate Pandora

Wow. The trolls in here are way unambitious. - 1 THz kilocore CPU based on monolayer graphene - 1 TiB memristor-based NVRAM; speed comparable to DDR3 or better - another 80 TiB of memristor-based NVRAM for the file system and stuff. SSDs are so 2011. - 802.11a/b/g/n/p - Ethernet/Fast...

What are you NOT going to play on your Pandora?

richiz does have a point; a lot of the older games can be too crude for someone who doesn't appreciate the style. For instance, I can stomach the NES and the C64 (nice sound, not so nice graphics) but I wouldn't play Atari 2600 games. Of course that means he misses out on stuff like Kirby's...

Is anyone else afraid of their pandora?

Only if you have to write it. Linux is great for tossing around newbie-scaring jargon. Then again, so is Windows, once you start getting under the hood. (Pop quiz, how many Windows users even know what HKLM and HKCU are or what WSH is for?) With Linux the hood is just that much bigger, more...

Hackers obtain PS3 private cryptography key due to epic programming fail?

If you don't mind reduced human-readability just use RGBA, which fits the length of the key better. You could also just use 8-bit grayscale, which would give you 32 fields of one byte each. But I'm too lazy to write a script to do that for me right now.
