    Replacement LCD cable is kinky

Thanks, all.  dmarschal's photo tells me what I need to know - the crimping wasn't intentional, so it's going back.  One of the traces is pretty well bent and I don't fancy the idea of putting that area under the stress of twisting it up and leaving it that way inside the hinge.  It's a rev5; I...

    Replacement LCD cable is kinky

I ordered a replacement LCD cable from Dragonbox, and it arrived last week.  I didn't have a chance to open it until today.  I wasn't expecting the double-bend in the part of the cable that gets curled into the hinge.  Is this normal, or should I ship this back for an exchange?

Original First Batch Orders - Are You In Craig's Queue? [Please read 1st post]

May as well add me to the list; I've had an outstanding pre-order since Oct 2008 that still hasn't been delivered.

Should ED stop delivering units to Craig?

Why wouldn't Craig use iCP profits to deliver Pandoras?   The liability for those outstanding units and refunds are all on his books, even though his iCP and Pandora businesses are separate entities.  I'd like to think he feels an obligation to honor his contracts, but even if he doesn't, it's...

Tizen, Sailfish, Firefox OS, Ubuntu....... thoughts and/or opinions?

I haven't had much time lately to follow the mobile OS scene, but when the most recent Ubuntu effort came to my attention, I have to admit, I started salivating.  I've been craving a phone that runs *real* linux, without having to root or otherwise void the warranty, for years, only to be...

A further update on preorders (18th of November 2012)

I can't really speak to the list of outstanding preorders, because I agree it's kind of ridiculous that after this many years, there's no master list. I will, however, assure you that there is no scam and that you'll be in good shape if you upgrade. I just received the 1Ghz upgrade I made to...

A further update on preorders (18th of November 2012)

For those looking for some good news (or just trying to figure out how much longer they're going to have to wait), I'm order #62 (2 units) in the 1Ghz queue. Got my shipping email today from Craig's team.

    (re)Play Expo 13th/14th October 2012 Manchester UK

Back on topic, I'm planning to attend tomorrow, and I'd like to meet anyone else from the forums who's going. Is there any plan for forum members to meet up at a specific time/location?

Your Holy gaming Grail for Pandora 2..?

I had a big long post planned with several rebuttals to points made here and then I realized my blood pressure was rising and decided to tl;dw it. In its stead, here's a thought: the linux distro we're running on Pandora will, unless Craig & co. do something really stupid like abandoning the...

    Pandora available again

It's the same system, but the background under the nubs isn't white, it's black. Also, (at least on my unit) the text on the lower lip that says "Phones SD Slot 1 SD Slot 2...." isn't present. Doesn't diminish the overall usability of the device, and it's purely a cosmetic difference. Just...

    Beta Mupen64Plus

Thanks. I kind of figured that's what it was. I keep forgetting this thing has a touchscreen, but I just checked and it still works when in the GUI.

    Beta Mupen64Plus

I just finished playing through the Deku tree and it didn't freeze up during the cutscene. I'm now running around the Kokiri forest accosting shrubberies. Not sure why yours is freezing. Maybe try a different rom? BTW, I'm running HF4 and set my max CPU speed to 800. Also, OMFG. This thing...

    Release Pcsx-Rearmed

Fantastic release. I'd been using r5 up until today, and had tried the following games with these results: Ghost in the Shell: low framerate, in-game sound was extremely choppy, FMV stuttered Xenogears: extremely low framerate, sound sped up or slowed down as a function of processor load Lunar...

    N900 Set To Fail

Absolutely not. I'm not sure where everyone's getting the impression the software is crap -- it's just Linux, and it's a damn sight more polished UI than any blackberry or winmo devices I've used. it's a little less sexy than the iPhone, and sure, it's lacking the iFart game, but it makes up...

    Microcontrollers/atari 2600

It's been done on an FPGA, so I don't see why an Arduino couldn't handle it: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/64309-atari-2600-fpga-progress/ http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/67091-atari-2600-fpga-update-video-pinball-flipper-velocity/...

    "terminal Fear"

On the subject of man pages, yes, they're sometimes cryptic and a little verbose, but then again, they're a manual. Just like your lawnmower manual has 4 pages on the bagging attachment you never use, and sparkplug specs you'll use once every 3 years, and oil viscosity charts that may baffle...

    Einstein Would Be Magnificent

I tried using cellwriter on an HP TX1320US notebook I converted to Ubuntu a couple years back. I never could get it trained well enough to be useful, and IIRC it was inconvenient to bring up and hide. I hate to say it, but the handwriting recognition that came installed in Vista was better...

    Video Player

You won't need to compile anything. In fact, you should be able to configure the Angstrom repositories in your opkg/ipkg/dpkg configuration (whichever Pandora supports out-of-the-box) and then type `opkg update; opkg install mplayer` You may have to install some of its dependencies, but that's...
