    Symbian Going Open Source

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/02/symbian-operating-system-now-open-source-and-free/ Is there anything useful in there that we'd be able to reuse? Anyone know how much of the old EPOC apps still exist in symbian? I'd like a new version of the old Psion PIM software :-)

    Bluetooth Speaker Recommendations?

I'm looking to get myself a set of bluetooth speakers, to use with my WinXP netbook and (eventually...) a Pandora - does anyone have any recommendations? Things I'd like: Decent sound quality - the speakers on my netbook are pretty pants (1W), so probably anything will be better...Audio...

    Pandora Plays Wiz Games?

Same family of CPU, but otherwise a very different architecture, especially the GPU. Stuff that's written to use GLES could potentially be made to target the Pandora's GPU instead, but it'd be *far* simpler just to recompile the said app (assuming its source is available)

    Gp2X Wiz Vs Pandora

Comparing clock speed is pretty meaningless when they are different processors. The CPU in the Pandora is a much more modern affair (it's the same CPU used in the latest iPhone, among other things)

    Clearing Up Some Misconceptions

One simple solution to ensuring that pxml files are valid is to include a data hash in a tag at the end (this can simply be a CRC or MD5 of the rest of the xml data) So: team make a "PXML Signer" app - just a simple command line tool that takes a PXML file, does rigorous validation, and adds...

.net Micro To Be Open Sourced

Nope. C++ using SDL and OpenGL / GLES I do 99.99% of my development within visual studio on Windows, and compile for linux / arm every so often from an Ubuntu VM, just to make sure everything's still working sensibly.

Button Layout Poll - The Final Chapter

Replying to myself... I just quickly mocked this design up, in case people are trying to picture it in my head. OH NOES! ANGRY CAT ATTACK QTE! For me, I'd not have to stop and think which button to press, as it's clearly labelled to the user what they need to do. This design could easily...

Button Layout Poll - The Final Chapter

Should've included a 3rd "I really don't mind what the buttons are called" option. What does bother me, as a dev, is that there's no colouring on the buttons. I've always found that if you tell someone to press "X" or "A", a lot of people will have to stop, look down at their controller, work...

.net Micro To Be Open Sourced

You already can develop Pandora applications using Visual Studio (that's what I do), you just need to use a different compiler

    Official Support?

It's worth noting that this forum is not owned or run by the Open Pandora guys, they simply use it as the OP community grew from the GP community. I'm sure there'll be a dedicated support email address, which will have nothing to do with these boards, so users banned from here will still have...

    Pandora Pandora Development From Windows

Personally, I've just been using VC++ Express on Windows to do 99% of my development (using sdl & open gl) - then I have an ubuntu VM set up which I use to make sure I'm not doing Windows specific stuff - since virtualbox supports 3d acceleration, it even runs the opengl stuff at a decent speed...

    How Old Are You?

So presumably his next two threads will be "Where do you live?" (with two entries - his town, and "everywhere else"), followed by "what're you doing friday night?"

    How Do I Computer?

Yup - SDL is an open source middleware that has been ported to many platforms, so as long as you're not doing anything that relies on OS or hardware functionality, code written for SDL should easily compile for any platform that has SDL libraries available for it (and don't worry, that includes...

    Lerp Development Thread

Yeah, I've been considering doing something like that - I've only just got box2d's joints system integrated nicely into my engine, so I haven't had any better way to get him to move before. For something that's primarily designed for games, you'd have thought they'd have built in something to...

    Lerp Development Thread

Yeah - I have a feeling it's that the force I'm applying to the player character to make it move is also getting applied to the gear, rather than the player character pushing against the gear. Oddly I've seen it working properly when standing on non-pivoted surfaces, so there may just be...
