The oc1 looks okay the oc9 looks like an abomination to me...I never did like that sony handheld x86 that was ass expensive.
What I think *should* happen...go cortex a9 with the most recent sgx, probably a 800x600 7 or 8" screen. Put the dpad/buttons higher so the triggers are easier to hit...
the psp go has yet to be touched. That's been out for quite a while now.
With the keys hacked there's no need to install a CFW anymore which makes homebrew as simple as "download and run". That'a a pretty big deal.
So now the psp keys were found on the ps3. Essentially this breaks the psp wide open without the need for CFW. But considering the age (limitations) of the psp and the new iphone and android markets does this really matter?
Even if someone decides to try to create an independent psp market...
Has anyone used an optical trackpad like on the new blackberries? Would something like that be useful as an input device for gaming, say as replacement for an analog stick?
Pandora is getting passed up cpu/gpu wise but no one is even getting in the ballpark controls wise. It really is a super shame pandora wasn't shipping 2 years ago.
thx for the replies and sorry for the topic mistype. The marketing angle about video/audio makes sense and must be profitable enough. Its just a shame they don't want to be more.
So why don't the chinese (or some chinese company) do what it can to "open up" their handheld and let people go crazy hacking in the software for them and just allow them to do what they do well...make cheap hardware?
Hasn't anyone learned yet from the dingoo?
Back in the 80's things were far less mature and thus less corporatized. After more than 20 years of diddling people have probably run out of new ideas centered around traditional computer electronics.
There's also the WITS A81 7" tablet for $200

Problem with this tablet is that it has WINCE on it, with a beta android.
Apparently they plan on also adding a linux version to it.
Note the CPU here is...
Scary this might give the chinese an opportunity to storm the market with MIPS based systems.
The PSP isn't arm based and it's not a bad cpu for when it was developed.
what's the general opinion about ergonomics from people who actually have this?
Btw, here's a link to a shot of the handheld:

In school I learned how to quickly trash an apple IIe by running "poke" inside a for loop. Good times, I can't remember anything else.
Neighbors down the street had intellivision. They had football for it, it was cool.
Then we got an atari 2600 with TankPong. I remember playing Defender...
Huh? rolling blunts? And $300 is a bit much for a tablet. Apparently the joojoo is a half kilo or more heavier than the ipad. x86 just doesn't work well for a tablets today.
The only *real* competitor to pandora at this time is still a small portable device allowing for an external USB gamepad to be plugged in. Not very portable but it would check the boxes on controls.
Of course there still are problems with pandora still not shipping. The pandora guys did all...
Exactly right. I work at a small shop and our biggest fear is someone trying to use the legal system to run us into the ground. Sadly they don't even have to be *right*, just force you to spend on legal resources you can't afford.
Nice reward for you guys...try to help a company's product...
