Is there a precedent for a kickstarter campaign with such a high contribution guaranteed to get even the basic unit being offered? What's your backup plan if kickstarter doesn't work?
Don't just assume DC emulation. DrkIziel has to release it for an ARM platform first. Yabause exists for pandora already thanks to Ari64. It can be ported as well as Ari's excellent dynarec.
Exactly. And the wider address space is just more power hungry. This is ARM trying to have an in to the server market. Not for use in mobile devices near term IMO.
5250 should have an iteration by then (current rumors say the Note 2 will have it, actually), much like the quad core iteration of the current dual-core A9 chip that Samsung has out (4412 if memory serves). We should be looking at a quad core A15 architecture with 2+ GHz cores and quad core Mali...
Then we share the confusion.
Exynos 5250 is actually supposed to be in production according to original estimates. Supposedly it will show up in a tablet first, meaning I guess we can expect it in the next galaxy tab.
I agree with your dual OS assessment. I also realize they have to be able to procure the SoCs, and since I don't know who will sell them, I'm assuming they can get anything.
I should note that the novathor a9600 has no baseband in it. ST is also hurting to sell some chips, not that it would...
For $700 here's what I expect:
Novathor A9600 level SoC (2.5 Ghz dual core cortex A15) with ImgTec PowerVR 6 'Rogue' GPU.
2 GB LPDDR3.
1280x720P screen. One X screen comes to mind.
Similar keymat and controls with backlighting.
Wifi N, Bluetooth 4.0 support.
HDMI support. For $700...
Playstation Vita VRAM interface is huge.

Is ari64 even still working on it? He likes to work feverishly and magically reappear with a lot of work done, but I don't know anyone knows what his current project is (if any).
$500. Send your unit it and they send it back with the new board (they keep your old board). I believe they'll also give you a new LCD cable if you have one of the old ones.
