    Pandora Pandora Schemers

I love CLOS. One of my reasons for choosing chicken is the TinyCLOS extension I'm sure I'll get around to Emacs one of these days. SLIME is supposed to be awesome. For now VIM has enough Lisp tools for my needs.

Beta Galactic Artifact - Release B

I've been dreaming of a game where you can fly from randomly generated planet to randomly generated planet. I'm working on a concept for a game called "Space Agent 7". Rather than finding artifacts, you go from planet to planet foiling evil plans, seducing sexy aliens and trampling the weak in...

    Java: Where To Next?

Not much, no. Until recently I've mostly dabbled in Common Lisp (with special thanks to the most excellent "Practical Common Lisp" by Peter Seibel). So far Scheme is similar enough to pick up quickly, though. I think I like it slightly better too. By SICP you must mean Structure and...

    Java: Where To Next?

I've decided to develop in Lisp for the Pandora, nothing is more beautiful or powerful IMHO. More specifically, I'll be using the Chicken Scheme-to-C compiler. Chicken supports embedding C(++) into the code, yum.

Non Blocking Way To Grab Keyboard Input?

If I'm understanding the API correctly, the SDL_KeyboardEvent struct contains an SDL_keysym struct which has a "unicode" field. I imagine this holds the Unicode value of the character.

My Main Use For A Pandora

If you're looking to use it as a desktop computer, you may want to consider getting a BeagleBoard. It's almost the same hardware, but it has DVI-D, so you can hook up a monitor.

    Xml-driven 2d Game Engine. Opinions?

I found the article All markup ends up looking like XML by David Megginson quite enlightening. He argues that given some complexity, the difference between different kinds of markup, be it XML, JSON or S-expressions, becomes rather small. I'll admit XML is my least favorite, though. On a...

    Pxml File Format Defintion

CyruzDraxs: If we modified .desktop for our purposes, the new format would be virtually useless for programs that use the old format. Ok, let's see if I can explain this in a more accessible way: There's two kinds of paths: relative paths and absolute paths. Paths point to stuff, files and...
