Agreeing with most of what others have already said, even for refinements to the current Pandora.
I like Pleng's idea about eliminating one SD slot and replacing it with a SIM slot.
I DON'T like the idea about eliminating the wifi/bluetooth.
With a SIM, bluetooth could become more important...
Pleng,
Sorry to hear the news. I received the camera and mouse, and while I haven't really done much with the camera the flat mouse has been my perpetual companion. I wish your friend luck in whatever other adventures she takes on.

I think the sourcing of the parts for the last 3k of batch 2 is the most "up in the air" thing right now, and may be what makes or breaks the long term prospects for the project.
From the team's statements it sounds like they're happy with the case and nub manufacturers now, and they seem to...
I may have to e-bay some of the old adventure games. Never played Indiana Jones, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango - don't know how well it handles that - Monkey Island, etc. I just played Day of the Tentacle, and a little of the newer Sam and Max off of Steam.
Gerix,
It's not worth it for a lot of people. No harm in that.
I'm not sure what a competitive return is. Let's say you get %5 of your money a year. That's more than most banks at this point. There are some downsides as others have pointed out. Getting your original investment out...
Well, the offer and its details aren't on the table yet. The original post was really to gauge interest. They're continuing to produce batch 1 with the money they have on hand, and it looks like they have most the parts to do so - most if not all the boards produced if the board company is to...
Definitely. Any investment, at least at first, should be looked at more as an investment in enabling the company to do interesting things rather than an immediate return on your money. There may be an *EVENTUAL* return on it, but it'd be over a period of time if there is any.
Not sure what...
I'm pretty sure details will be forthcoming...but I wouldn't be surprised if it's after batch1, batch1 of the iControlPad, and maybe even most of batch2 are out the door. I think this thread was mainly to gauge interest.
Ed, thank you for this post. I expect to spend more hours than I care to count re-playing all the Descent 1 levels, and finally getting around to the Descent 2 levels. This is a Pickle Port, right? Thank you Pickle as well!
Actually thank you for all your effort in showing off this device.
Unless the guy said you bought a one nubber, you should have a fully working unit. There are steps to calibrate the nubs, worth reading. Some have to calibrate more frequently, some rarely.
I believe the warranty is transferable, but I'd confirm that with the team and give them what details you can of your Pandora. Mainly if they know you're from batch 1a then they'll have an idea of when it shipped. I'd also ask the person you bought it from if he'd experienced any difficulties...
As for when, eventually is as good an estimate as any.
IF they've straightened things out between the various manufacturers, then batch 2 can start as soon as batch 1 is out the door, but the bulk of the parts that are being produced now will go to produce the rest of the first pre-order...
There are really 2 batch 1s at this point, call them batch-1a and batch-1b. We all ordered at about the same time. Batch 1a was about the first 700 orders or so - give or take. Delivered from the first 900 or so produced Pandoras they include "1 nubbers" - people who jumped the queue to get a...
Sounds good all the way around. I'm definitely interested to find out what Android devices the iCP fits and to hear how well the socketed nubs works as opposed to those soldered directly to the board. Since you had to scrap the boards for the initial ICP, what's the lead time look like for...
Fair enough. I've been a bit too pedantic in this thread, especially without details. I'll wait to hear what Craig says before getting any crazier. Cheers!
Edit:
Good quote emcee. I'm willing to invest too, and for much the same reasons. Just got wrapped up a bit in how it would work.
