    Another new machine...

Aye, definitely. The Pandora was the first hand held or console with decent 3d acceleration that encouraged the home brew / emulator crowd, with the controls to go with it. Dreamer asked for this guy's definition of open, which definitely warrants an answer. There just isn't enough...

1000th yet.. or have i missed it?

But if you do I want pics of the Pandora smoking the thing! Break out your mister potato head and mock up a "potato Pandora" smoking that sucker! :-b

    Another new machine...

Jourdy, It sounds like a potentially interesting device, but he seems to be going about it backwards. OpenPandora and Craig certainly got community feedback for what their device should be, but the only upfront money they asked for was the pre-orders once the design was ready to be...

    My Open Pandora On Ebay

Zev, I'd imagine Open Pandora will continue selling Pandoras until orders start slowing down for them. I.E. batch 666 - actually have 3-5k on hand, only sold 1k, have to wait X months to sell the other thousands. At some point the sales will be so slow that it probably doesn't make sense to...

    Another new machine...

This sounds like an Android tablet without the screen and either with custom controllers, or an interface for hooking up controllers. Hopefully with HDMI out in addition to your typical S-VIDEO. It's not a bad idea, but how is it different than an Android tablet with bluetooth for controllers...

Over 1000 shipped, but any over 1000 received?

Remember, about 1/4 go to ED, and some of the built units were unfortunately to replace returns. Things seem to be moving along at a decent clip now, and I expect to hear that more units have shipped next week...we're still a ways from having batch 1 and batch 2 complete though. edit: /here/hear/

I just need to ask about something....

Edit: long post and Caine's post pretty much covered it.

Even Though Pandora Has A Generation Of Old Hardware

Gah, I have that for the GP2X and haven't finished it yet. Mind you, I generally put it down for months at a time so when I pick it back up I have no idea what I was even doing, but still! Glad you're enjoying your Pandora.

    Pandoras For Sale

I think the timing might be a little unfortunate - a few people who paid 2 years ago might feel a bit bent that somebody paying today is getting something today, but these are refurbs and everybody who purchased one is getting a new unit. There are a few ways this could've been handled...

Is anyone else afraid of their pandora?

Lots of plans, it's spending the requisite time on them to bring them to fruition that's my downfall! The above was just a silly something to go with this thread. A short story might be fun though. Heck, had I the chops and aforementioned time, it'd make a heck of a game. Control your...

Is anyone else afraid of their pandora?

Poem58, sorry to hear about your health. A meds regime always seems to have side effects. Hope you receive your unit soon and that they find a course of medicine that allows you to fully enjoy it.

Is anyone else afraid of their pandora?

I'll be afraid of it when I hook it up to control that menacing mechanical arm. Did I remember to unplug it? Is the Pandora learning to move it about when I'm not there to oversee it? :-b Don't know that she'd kill me a purpose, but the pneumatics on that thing are pretty stout. What would...

    Shipping and order numbers

Craig, Ed, and team, I'm glad to hear that things are going well now. I'm really looking forward to receiving my unit. Cheers, and luck with the rest of the component manufacturing. Thank you for sticking in there so long and working to correct the flaws in the unit. Here's to a stellar...

    Is the pandora open hardware?

The Beagle Board is a pretty good place to work until you get your Pandora. The controls aren't there, but if it compiles and runs on the BB, it shouldn't take much to make it compile and run on the Pandora. If you make your code generic enough, adding in the extra controls for the Pandora...

looking for partners to finish my Tablet

00christian00 this sounds interesting and I wish you luck. What others have already said about standing out is certainly true. I see Craig has already posted that he'd help, and of all of us he and the OpenPandora team probably have the most experience getting product to market...as he's done...

Stop me if you think you've heard this one before

Craig, Welcome back to the forums. I'm glad things are going better with the component manufacturers and that the tweaks you've implemented are helping. Really looking forward to receiving my unit. Cheers!

    Question on Rom Legality

Depends on who's watching and how you download. I received a Bittorrent warning letter because of the movie Pitch Black that my roommate downloaded...and I happen to own on DVD. :-b I don't think of my little apartment as pirate central, and even if he was downloading a fair bit of stuff, it...

    Kindle on Pandora?

Yeah, I got that. And while I'm a believer in this, I'm not a purist. For a short while I went so far as to boycott anybody who sold DRMd works and lobbied for insane copyright laws...which meant no popular movies, games, books, etc. Sadly I gave up on that. It doesn't have to be that way -...

    Kindle on Pandora?

DRM is a pain, no matter the media. There are tools to break it - very illegal in the U.S. - if you really want to, and there is a TON of public domain works, and even some publishers that go without DRM. O'Reilly and Baen Books. Pretty much the same situation we're in for video - DVDs...
