    Investors...

Thanks DaveC. When things seemed to be really stalled there was talk of having the finished molds shipped back to the U.K., though I've no idea how much work it would be to get the U.K. injection machines to mesh with the Chinese molds. If Craig's happy with the quality of the cases and the...

    Investors...

DaveC, I don't think the community's forgotten you or MWeston. I'm sure Craig hasn't. I'd fully expect any prior commitments be met, and that those commitments would be part of the disclosure to any who invest.

    Investors...

Had a long post I managed to wipe out. The short of it is I'm probably only in a position to invest the minimum, if that - if US 1K even makes sense as a minimum. Grumble, but there ya go. I've a lot of faith in the effort of Craig and his team. It looks like the main obstacle at this point...

Pandora Needs A Hub To Use Some Usb Devices?

My understanding is USB 2.0 devices should work, but a lot of mice and keyboards are 1.x.

Hey Pandora team- When will you guys strike a deal with Foxconn?

They looked at venture capital, and the VCs would want too much control over the product. They're producing exactly what they want and targeting the audience they want. They got the most difficult part done - getting any of these beasties out of the door at all. Now they're working on...

    Pandora On Wired.com

I'm sure CraigX had the occasional thought of a Pandora for every person and world domination. In Soviet Russia the Pandora plays YOU! :-b A hundred million Zombie Pandoralings controlled by overlord CraigX could be heard moaning "Your order number, give it to me..." while hauling revelers...

    Travelling Pandora Holiday Photos

Prometheus, Loved the write up. I thought the tiger tale was funny and a bit sad at the same time. What a lousy way to lose an eye! Sounds like you had a blast on the Pandora. I'm glad that the Pandora did everything - with maybe the exception of the keyboard mapping and overtightened...

    Shipping date?

Assuming a go on the nubs, and sufficient board production, it's possible. Those are big ifs.

    Pandora On Wired.com

I think if they can get the component manufacturing in hand, and it looks like they're approaching that point, 25k should be easy. That's a big if, of course. I don't have a feel for the community, so I don't know how many more sales than that they could generate, but 25k should be easy if...

    Shipping date?

I believe that this is happening. What it actually means for delivery time, I don't know, but it should help.

    Pandora On Wired.com

Mainly they're saying it'll probably not have a huge DS like success outside of its niche market, which is probably fair unless something spectacular happens with it. (They claimed the iPhone, and probably Android as well, were actually successful convergence devices.) I remember CraigX saying...

Shipping from US to UK back to US...Why?

It's not assembled units, it's assembled boards. Craig and co have the cases and everything else in the U.K. for assembly.

    Shipping date?

It's possible, but there are some major hurdles. There are still ~3k of the first batch to ship. They can assemble ~200 per edit: day, assuming the team has all the parts - don't know where I heard this quote. They don't have all the parts yet. ED, Craig, if you believe more can be...

Cases cleared for further transport (2010-10-04)

Craig, sorry 'bout the van, but I'm glad you have the cases and they appear to be in good shape!

Away for the next few days

ED, For somebody who's away for a few days, I think you post comments AND news an awful lot. :-b I hope you're taking time to enjoy yourself, and giving your GF enough attention. Thank you and Craig both for your updates and clarifications, even if it is just "Still in Nub holding...

    Qt Creator 2.0.0Beta & Qt 4.7.0Beta

Sebt3, Sounds very cool, especially since I intend to do a project or two in Qt. Thank you. Don't yet have my Panda, and life as it is will probably mean even when I receive it it'll be NEXT summer before I can pursue that project, but I'll definitely watch this.

    No News

I don't think even the first 1k are out the door yet. I think 100 are shipping out this coming week...or have they shipped? I'm a little fuzzy. That'll either bring us into the high 900s, I believe, or actually top 1k. I know that the Chinese factory had 1k-3k cases ready to ship, but I...

    Is There A Problem?

DaveC, I think even the devs who have their devices and are making ports/games/emus/menus/whatever want a larger audience to share with. Many of them are still working on their projects, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have slowed their temp or stalled it until more people have...

    Thinkgeek

Thanks for the response. Assuming they're even willing to offer retailers a discount any time soon... I guess my hope would be that small US retailer X could purchase a batch of Y-100 units - not enough for them to break even on the FCC certification - but enough that it makes sense to get...

    Thinkgeek

If they get their production kinks worked out, and there's enough profit margin that they can offer a "wholesale" price to retailers and the retailers can markup the product to the "retail" price the team is offering and everybody makes a profit, then this is probably the best place for the team...
